ADS-B Antenna

I am working on building my Transponder/ ADS-B slot antenna.  I have seen that a user here, Del Schier seems to be very knowledgeable about these.

I plan on using a Garmin GTX 45R.  I believe this transmits on 1090 Mhz, while it receives ADS-B signals on both 978Mhz and 1090 Mhz.  I've seen two different "slot antennas" published on theis, one cenetered on 978, and one on 1090.  What is the best design to receive both?

Good question.

I have the same/similar question for a 406/121.5 MHZ ELT antenna.

Seems silly to mount an expensive whip or blade antenna inside the fuselage/tail.

I have the Archer Sport com antenna.
