Is it just me, or does anyone else look at Spaceship Two and think in terms of a LongEZ build? Ooh! They're close to closing off the strakes! http://bp0.blogger.com/_nP0yUQFiTwU/SHE6UzDOqVI/AAAAAAAAAf0/UzitMttE6Jc/s1600-h/SpaceShipTwo_Construction_wing_assembly-8.jpg

Just a guess, but what you are seeing is the front of the pressure vessel that is best rounded to minimize stress risers. The pointy nose is probably an additional cone that is attached to the front of the fuselage. Again, just a guess, and obviously others are more qualified to answer yes or no.

My point is, of course, purely a question!

But according to the Rutan design philosophy, ... everything is fuctional :)

So, add-on stuff is not really part of the practila past experiences.

Nothing personal is meant in my reply!

heheh. As I recall, the EZ plans say to shape the nose "until it looks like a nose"(I'm sure I read something to that effect somewhere). I wonder if that sort of thing happens with Scaled's more recent planes too?
