  1. Got my eye on a flying Long-Eze, with an 0-235. Are there any major changes to upgrade to an 0-320 or 360? Can't find anything about swapping, only choosing for an initial build. Thanks
  2. Its amazing the excess gear and wires you find in some aircraft, and the weight saving with new equipment
  3. Thank Marc, Yeah, i have no problem working out the WB etc. And the weight only is next to useless, but was hoping someone had actual number that i could play with. Ideally of an EZ around the same weight. The POH is in the aircraft, but still a few weeks before I get to meet it. Its only a few miles from my place, but people are a bit touchy about breaking into their hangers
  4. Hi All, I have the opportunity to buy a flying Long EZ. But its a few weeks before the owner is back in town. Being 6'4", 250#, I thought I'd look at the CG / W&B calc's using the POH from these forums's, as I can see this being a problem. Now, the POH has the Empty as 730#, but we all know that almost impossible. Can someone share the Load calculations please, so I have a bit of a guide? The owner says the EW is 880#, but dont know where the CG is to do a proper calc.
  5. Marc, oops, sorry about that No one in the back, so plenty of luggage space without the strake storage Re canard. Heard about this. Will need to investigate more. But in reality, would be mostly solo flying. With your weights, i would only need 0.5", and if i have to move ballast for solo, so be it Email sent
  6. Thanks Kent, 1: OK, so moving the seat is possible. 2: Yeah, I'm on the hunt, the SAAA should be able to help too 3: Thanks, hadn't seen the first 2 links. However, my question was more this type of Forum dedicated to Cozy, not just build blogs. But the blogs can be very helpful too. I would much prefer to start a Long-EZ / Open-Ez, but not sure it would be allowed under our Rules. Looking into this further too.
  7. As a perspective Cozy IV builder, I have some questions that I've not been able to find a reliable answer. Usual "Rutan, blar, blar, blar. Long Ez waffle, waffle, wafffle, So Cozy IV, but........." Question 1 I'm 6'4", and would "like" a combined front seat weight of 450# Using Marx Zeitlin's aircraft weights, my CG would be out by about 0.5" forward when landing with no fuel (not ideal on either front there) Now, to help with CG and possibly my height, does anyone see any problem with moving the front seat back to about 61"-62" arm position ?? I would prefer to fly within the CG's, as I know some have said they have flown outside without issue. But my chicken meter alarm keeps going off. Question 2 Ive been looking for some plans to do a timber mock-up of the cockpit, is their something available? Seems a bit overboard to spend US$535 for plans only to find I dont fit. Yes, I "might" be able to find someone local, but they wouldn't have the proposed "mods" Question 3 Is there a dedicated active Cozy IV build forum? Other useful suggestions welcome. Thanks
