  1. I built a Longeze without a pilots license then earned my ticket when the plane was finished. I had less than 50 hours when I flew my Longeze for the first time. It flew like a dream. Landings are different and not hard to learn. You have to think ahead when in the pattern. If you can fly a spam can you can fly a canard. My .o2 build on Steve

    The Eminence Speaketh:

I have flown the canard and deem it worthy of my Catness. :P

  2. I was going to say that the numbers might evidence the start of the economic downturn at its beginning, but as I recall GA has had some pretty good reported sales during the past 3 years.[course- not sure what planes filled those orders- Hawkers and Lears or Pipers and Diamonds.

Who the heck knows, as builders are a different breed than general GA folk.

Whats your point emin-em? Just have a thing against Velocity or RRL or what? ..Velocity is a nice bird. Not my cup-o-tea, but a nice bird.

RVs have increased in registrations it's not a personal thing w/ Velocity, the facts are the facts. I doubt if I had an interest that I would be looking at dropping $500K into a TP Velocity until I see the company stabilize.

RRL, now that's just a flat joke.

  3. Unless RRL believes that their make-believe league 1) will ever form or 2) if they let Velocity go belly up they never will achieve #1.

Velocity sales have fallen to the pits. One has to wonder why having an "adequate supply of airframes" was in doubt. Assuming RRL was already paying for all the racer development costs, it seems strange that they felt they had to buy the company itself.

The only obvious answer is that Velocity had be ready to go out of business, and the only way RRL could protect its source of airframes was to buy the company. A look at Aircraft Registration databases. Here's the change in the number of Velocities registered per year since 2001:

    Year Net Increase

    ---- --

    2001 29

    2002 18

    2003 22

    2004 11

    2005 9

    2006 10

    2007 7

Note that this is the *net* increase in the number of aircraft registered as Velocities...and that in most cases, this reflected a kit that had probably been purchased three or more years earlier. (Note that the actual number of completed aircraft per year is generally higher...for instance, I show 12 Velocities with new airworthiness certificates in 2007).

Obviously, Velocity sales had peaked in the late '90s. Not too farfetched to think that the owners were considering shutting the line down.

    From Her Eminence:

You, Sir, sitting in the dark, silent, appear to have your HSFGASS jacked; it is not a virus, as I have said already. It is a Highly Sophisticated, Fifth Generation Artificial Stupidity System (ASS). Take it from me, I know what an (ASS), is! For as my purveyor has so efficiently demonstrated, there is no ASS alive greater than I. :P

  5. Now see here! How come nobody is complaining about this thread? It's gone off the deep end and certainly has nothing to do with canards.

oh my i wish you hadnt

    From Her Eminence:

You are not clearing anything up mplafleur. You are shilling for HatSwitch who is

incapable of maintaining coherent thought for any length of time. You on

the other hand enjoy playing with words and attempting to obscure the

truth with them. You think you are good at it, but you are not. A squirm

    is a squirm is a squirm. :P

  6. Wow! Timing is everything!

Well it looks like we’ve been infiltrated by someone who thinks they can slice pickles with their tongue. :bad: My guess is he probably sharpens it in the other end of that cat. . . or was it a chicken?? Maybe we need a vote?

oh me this is not good

Anyway. I think I’ll speak for everyone that currently finds themselves with this cliché narcissistic cat abuser’s abrasive cross hairs on their back and draw a line draw under this thread right here____

    Eminence, take your s**t OUTSIDE!

Currently have more productive things to do with a weekend afternoon, but I’ll definitely be back for this.

    Hat

    Gentlemen:

I am only the Purveyor of Catness. Shoot not the messenger no matter the mess. :o

    From Her Eminence:

"I see My Little Trick Pony, AssHandedInHatSwitch, is back for another bearing.

Sir, you attack like a rabid Muppet on crack we'd swear there were a dozen people people doing it if it weren't so ridiculously obvious from your wretched spelling and grammar that it's really just you.

You are a stone hypocrite with zero credibility. It's clear as a bright summer day why you get the treatment you get almost every time you post. You foist the most ludicrous, self contradictory arguments I've ever seen anyone even attempt in my entire life, then try and defend them. You're absolutely insane. Obsessed.

Feel free to stay in character and scream about what a "troll" I am some more for pointing out your glaringly obvious dishonesty.

  7. Dangggg.....a pet CHICKEN? Really?

He has a pet friggin chicken that he dresses to look like Dame Edna.......

Eminence is even weirder than I first thought! :D

    From Her Eminence:

"Another Sunday Blue sky cowboy this Edge who craps in his satin panties when he gets some buffet let alone a full stall.

Our society is breeding a generation of panty waisted sissy Edges who quake at the thought pushing the envelope. Without anti lock brakes and GPS he couldn't find his collective arse to wipe off the dingle berries. Thank God he'll die politically correct with a full load of estrogen coursing through his manly 12" arms and smooth satiny 12" pencil neck." :P

  8. Nope, I double checked, it's a cat.

Maybe it's a scaredy-cat? That's why it looks so much like a chicken.

    . . .

    From Her Eminence:

"Come and meet HatSwitch all-round pig-headed oaf. With cabbages as his intellectual equals, he excels at spectacular self-nukes, turning himself into piles of radioactive dust with every post. You've probably seen blind-drunk old men with two left feet and only one leg avoid fresh pools of warm vomit on the footpath with more skill and finesse than HatSwitch has at avoiding the inevitable... yet another spectacular self-nuke." :P

  9. I am thinking that PETA might need to get involved here. What self respecting cat wants to be dressed up like a chicken. Isnt that grounds for animal endangement charges. Build ON STeve:D

She'll give you some grounds, MisterCan'tSpellSTeve.

    From Her Eminence:

"I know I shan't validate your asinine post with an answer, but your arrogance is only exceeded by your ignorance. I've never pretended to be anything I am not and your astoundingly self-righteous belief that only hoomans may frolick with fashion says volumes about you and your supercilious attitude." :P

  10. Left yoke feels very natural. Right stick feels completely natural. Right yoke and left stick do (did) not.

In switching from the Longez to the Cozy, I needed several hours of adjustment in going from right hand stick to left hand stick. Up and away it was no big deal. In the pattern, it was like trying to write with my other hand. After a dozen or so circuits, my left hand was retrained----and now it feels completely natural.

All the other stuff is MUCH more important (judgement, speed, etc).

I completely overlooked the LH Rh issue.

    <THUNK> :irked:

  11. Thanks, Mark. I had a couple hundred hours left seat without license :bad: in the early 80s, things came back quickly. But I can't disagree with your prudent approach.

If I am able to get an Owner/Safety pilot, with canard A/C type make a great deal of difference or can seat time translate well between the larger Cozy's and Velocitys, etc?

  12. I am coming fresh out of my PPL and have an additional 15 hours solo all in Cessna 1x2s. A Velocity XL/Cozy IV styled canard meets my needs for business flight, pax and travel gear.

I am being put off by local (SW FL) flyboys who claim that I need more experience before purchasing a pusher technology A/C. I'm mid 50s and inclined to want to live for another 20+ years :D

I would certainly have an Owner (I am buying from) or someone with canard experience to take me through the initial phases but would appreciate the forums thoughts on this topic.

  13. Easily offended are you?

Well, as an American, I make it as point to talk about what I want, when I want, where I want. If that offends you, you might consider taking your blind lips off Obama’s slippery a** and planting them squarely on mine. Practice your Silly-Lib shut-em-up by calling them a racist tact on someone else, it won’t fly with me, I call them as I see them, and since this is an airplane forum as you pointed out, well, you know, you might want to use your key strokes to talk about things that at least have a chance to fly. ;)

Okay, everyone that now feels offended, say "Aye".

    Everyone else,

    say nothing.

I have some helpful information for you.

There are exactly two categories of people who might read any

article you post. The first group comprises those who know you're

a racist, a blowhard and an idiot. The second includes only those who have never heard of you.

If you want to maintain as good an image as possible, don't ever post again. Your crude and incoherent nonsense just give the first group an opportunity to laugh at you, and any of the second group, who see your crap, will immediately migrate to the first. So your best bet is to STFU.
