  1. Click Bonds. I bought some and after looking at them wonder how they are an improvement over a bolt head with some notches on it? It looks like a good twist and if the bond breaks it will spin like anything else. Have considered bending down a couple edges on the head to create a bite into the composite structure.......? I'd think the same setup with some little feet or a couple simple struts sticking out at 90 degrees would work well?

  2. I would suggest anyone wanting to beat up on this fellow is barking up the wrong tree. He provides a really great service in his articles in the various magazines (over many YEARS) and the products he creates for very reasonable pricing.

If you are in a hurry or need to catch up to your smokin' retracts, go buy elsewhere and pay for your needs. This guy is a true gem in our industry and some of you are going to alienate a tremendous resource.

    STOP IT! :irked:

  4. Thanks Marc. I do have the -57 series. By the way, just checked ACS and the price is almost $100 LOWER than last year......very strange. Used to be $749 now $659.

And Marc, it sure is interesting to finally see the great stuff you folks are working on. Hope you'll be able to tell us more about it some day soon.

I'm looking forward to the next time Burt has the patience for another canard group visit to the 'Source' in Mojave. :envy:

  5. Ditto with Lynn Erickson. For my Long EZ (1050 Empty), my fat butt and full fuel the Ultra High Performance Groves work great. Even so with another fat butt in the back! Strong and no fade.

Marc, aren't those numbers in the Grove calculator per wheel? If not mine should only be good to 80 knots .....?

  6. I guess you found the picture is of James Redmond's Berkut?

  7. It's hard to believe but my Long EZ helped me "do it all" today. I flew from Davis (CA) to work in Concord this morning before dawn. Left at 11:30 for South Lake Tahoe and had lunch with two other NorCal Canard flyers and a Berkut builder at the new FBO's open house. Zipped back down to Concord, met my VP and CEO for a job walk at 2:30, and flew home by 5:30. Gotta love a day like this! Saw a lot of 200-230 MPH on my 396 today with tail winds and long descents, even a moment or two at 249 MPH. :D

Those of you old timers quit smirking and thinking - ROOKIE! Those of you building - don't slow down! Anybody lurking - this is wonderful aviation and you'll never regret getting into it with a canard. ;)

  8. Thanks Dave.

I had forgotten about James' great site. I found that and more I needed. I'll try writing him to see how his vents are working long term. I still like the one on the canopy for a fresh breeze on the face in summer. I just wish somebody manufactured the premade vent in a sturdier material. In the cold at altitude with gloves on I just twisted my screw in half..... the repair kit doesn't work at all. :(

  9. Let me try this again.....

Has anyone found a better version or model of the NACA scoop that mounts on the canopy frame for the Long EZ?

Would like to just cut it out and build in a new one with better construction, i.e. not cheap plastic and nylon.......

Has anyone tried the RV or Cozy style with round outlet?

  10. Has anyone found a better version of the NACA scoop that mounts on the canopy frame for the Long EZ? Mine broke and the repair kit isn't working out. Would like to just cut it out and build in a new one with better construction, i.e. not cheap plastic and nylon.......

Has anyone tried the RV or Cozy style with round outlet?

Thanks and Happy New Year to all!

  11. Is anyone interested in a 6" extension for an O-320? It has a 6" prop flange and I'd like to go to the 7" but not without some "trade-in" value for the old one...... :o

    Merry Christmas to all!
