    Building a Cozy MkIV, though I can't seem to keep my garage warm enough to do the job this winter...stalled until spring!

     

    I've been wishing I had a Long/Vari to fly around in until I get the Cozy built. I'm missing the ability to see freinds and family (cross country) as the clock ticks. Sure don't enjoy commerical!

    Just thinking out load here (is that JTOLH?)

     

    You might also consider making only the points wider that you really need. Perhpas the seatback front and maybe a little on the IP. Leave the width the same at the canard and landing gear. This might eliminate the need for a lot of extra changes that aren't necessarily needed.

     

    Also another consideration mentioned to me by the Chrissie (Cozy Girrrls) was just to make the top of the seat backs wider so the longerons aren't digging into your shoulders.

     

    I'm building a Cozy and following the first idea by making the front seatback wider by 3 inches and the IP wider by an inch. I'm not yet sure what I'll do in the back. Once warmer temps come back to Santa Fe I'll have to figure that out...

    Featherlite sells the gear as well as other parts. I don't have their email handy at the moment but I bet others will!

     

    Ah the epoxy wars...I love MGS. It has low to no smell and wets out nicely. I'd hate to have to make a decision about switching. Having said that however, there is an isuue currently (though I understand it will finally be reticifed soon) getting any slow hardener for the 285. It seems the formula was changed and now it requires hazmat shipping containers from the sources in Canada. There's a sever discussions on this forum and the other that would be worth your investigating.

    No MGS in sight??

    I like my MGS and was planning on not even painting the interior. The surfaces come out so nice with the peel ply I figured why bother. I'm afraid the interior paint would wear off over time. I just plan on a green leather matching interior components. I hate the thought of switching.

    I knew I had seen it somewhere. I kept looking in the back of the plans. Oh, well I'm going to print out that page and hang it on the wall in the garage. I think I'll be using that in the future!

    I've gotten the seatback done with acceptable results, now I'm on to building the forward bulkheads and IP bulkheads. My chapter 4 & 5 kit from Wicks contains 4 sheets of tan .2 " (I think - need to order tha tape measure with the next chapter - thought I had one) foam that is 48 " x 12". Out of that I need to make both of the above mentioned bulkheads.

     

    Is there a preferred layout/cutout method? I checked multiple web sites and haven't apparently hit the correct one yet to show me the cuts to make. Most show the bulkhead foam already put together.

     

    I guess this will show me what to take pictures of for my web site!

    Yeah we've both sat in a Cozy Mk IV. It was awesome! Talk about a motivator. I hope to get to fly in one someday!

     

    When we were in it, the canopy latch rod and longeron were pressed into my arm. Jan had to sit with her shoulders scrunched up a bit. It wasn't bad but I just felt that it would be more comfortable with the long cross-countires we're planning if it was widened slightly. I don't have hip or elbow issues just arms/shoulders.

     

    A small change up front might pay big dividends in the end. I also have a friend building a cozy in the Dallas area and I always remember him saying that if he had it to do over again he'd widen it by 3".
