jwillis Posted September 5, 2003 Posted September 5, 2003 At 6000 RPM, is it possible to get 200hp, I ask this because I'm putting a Rotary engine on a production aircraft and Transport Canada won't let me use the Turbo. I'm using a 91 Turbo engine. Thanks John Quote
Dan Tomlinson Posted September 8, 2003 Posted September 8, 2003 What reason are they giving to not use the Turbo - oops production aircraft - And they're letting you put a rotary in? Is the Turbo restriction on all? or just on you install as the "original" didn't have a Turbo? Regards, /dan N of Toronto Quote /dan
jwillis Posted September 8, 2003 Author Posted September 8, 2003 Hi Dan, oops, wrong forum, anyhow regarding the Owner Maintenance Catagory this is what they say word for word. ("This means that you cannot: Change the engine so that it is powered by an engine that is not a single normally aspirated piston engine. This means no turbochargers and no turoprops, turbofans or turbojets, etc.") Basically they had to set some ground rules to stop guys from turning a 172 into a six place and powering it by turbojet engines. I agree with setting ground rules, most likely keep a few people alive but eliminating turbochargers, somebody has their head stuck in the sand. Just a few that are in the Owner-Maintenance Category. MOONEY M20B CESSNA 120, 140, 140A, 150*, 150F, 150G, 170, 170A, 170B, 172*, 175A, 177 MAULE M 4, M 4 T Some of these aircraft will perform very well with an automotive conversion. John Quote
