From what I've been able to find on the internet, 3.5" clearance seems to be a reasonable starting point... 🤔

These are the "Melville Cowl Set" from Featherlite, indeed.

Thanks Brian,
I went down to Covington, met Ryszard and the Jet Guys. Exceptional people, and great training, too 👍

Looking for someone willing to give me transition training in a canard, shouldn't take too long I guess 🤞
We have a flying Long EZ we can use here in the field at KLVK (Livermore CA), or alternatively I am willing to travel anywhere in the country.
PM me please.

Decided to go with the "LORD ENGINE MOUNT J-7402-24" from Aircraft Spruce.
This design has the inner part rubber coat filled with some kind of gel or memory foam or whatever it is 🤷♂️

Thank you so much Kent, this is very helpful 👍

I need a set of Dynafocal "sandwich" style rubber engine mounts for a Long-EZ with E2D Lycoming O-320. The existing ones are worn and unusable, markings unreadable.
Spruce lists "50402-5 ASSY" as "used on many homebuilts including the Defiant and Long-EZ":
https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/dynosandwich.phpVIP Mounts website indicates "VIP 50402-5" are similar to "Lord J-7402-16" and "Barry 94150-01".
https://vipmounts.com/aircrafts-mounts/Is "VIP 50402-5" the right choice?

Additional deciding factor, for those of us having exhaust pipe ends inside the cowl, how much of a clearance do we need in-between these pipe ends and the trailing edge of the cowling?.. 🤔
I took measurements at three Long-EZ's here on the field, here are the numbers:
