  1. OK guys - I'm going to display my (vast) ignorance here. I presume the 703 tape is used to replace the UNI tape for the spar lay-ups. Since this tape is only .010, are you just replacing the lay-ups as called out, or are you filling the area by increasing plies for the final thickness?

  2. Please forgive me if I am traveling ground covered before, but my project will go nowhere without the lay-up schedule for the Roncz canard. I have the templates, graciously provided on the forum here, but still do not have the printed matter that went with it. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to post this info.

  3. This is a bit off-topic, but if anyone has a copy of a large format 3-view of the EZ, I would greatly appreciate a copy. I'm trying to come up with a pleasing nose design, and don't have a 3-view anymore. Thanks in advance!

  4. I have no problem taking ownership of Chap. 14. I will create the drawings in both AutoCAD 2002 and PDF, at least for the smaller ones. My fervent hope is that we also get drawings for the high-performance rudders and the updated speed brake plans. I have also seen reference to landing light plans - I'd like to see them, too.

  5. As a soon-to-be first time builder (at least to completion - I have completed a LongEZ fuselage though Chap. 4, but I sold it in the '80s), I am watching this very avidly. I am extremely CAD literate - ACAD, Solid Edge, and Generic CADD to name a few) and have done quite a few LongEZ drawings. As an offer, I am posting one I just did of the center spar jig (this because I intend to build the center section first, and then the fuselage - this was one of the pieces of advice given early on in the '80s). It is in PDF format and the scale is 1:12 when printed on standard 8.5X11 paper, landscape.

  6. In this case, I posted what I had. I recognize AutoCAD does not do 3D as well as others. These drawings were more of a design exercise for myself. Re-doing them in 2D will not present a major challenge. My hope is that in this process, some other drawings may be produced. I am in the planning stages of my 2nd LE (the first was still-born, unfortunately, in the '80s). I am hoping to be able to incorporate all of the major improvements that have occurred over the years. For instance, I intend to mount my landing lights in the outboard edge of the strake. I saw some LEs years ago at Sun-N-Fun that had them done and liked it. I also intend to extend the nose fro a more pleasing profile, as well as to mount the battery farther forward (to accommodate an O-320). Drawings for these and many other mods would be very welcome.

  7. I reside in Jacksonville, FL, which is where I washed up on the beach when I retired from the US Navy [ETC(SS)]. I've been a pilot for over 40 years, and a wanna-be homebuilder for almost as long. Started a LongEZ in 1983, but had to part with it. Was also involved in a Defiant then, and am still very interested in that design. Since the OpenEZ Twin doesn't seem to be moving terribly quickly, will probably start an OpenEZ in the near future. Very interested in hearing from other builders/flyers in the area. I can be reached at pj260@bellsouth.net . Always willing to talk airplanes. Until I have a homebuilt to fly, my daily flyer is a 1952 Piper Tripacer.

  8. I reside in Jacksonville, FL, which is where I washed up on the beach when I retired from the US Navy (ETC(SS)). I've been a pilot for more than 40 years (CMEL/INST/CFI). I started a LongEZ way back in 1984 (I think - that was a long time ago!), but had to part with it. Assisted a friend with his Defiant - very interested in the OpenEZ Twin. Since that doesn't appear to be a reality yet, I will most likely start an OpenEZ in the foreseeable future. In the meantime, I do have a daily flyer - a 1952 Piper Tripacer. Always willing to talk airplanes, and would very much like to get in touch with any EZ builders in the area. I can be reached at pj260@bellsouth.net

  9. Folks - I am coming back to the fold after a very long absence. I started a LongEZ back in 1983, but had to part with it some years later. I am attempting to assemble enough drawings to build one, finally. The road block I am experiencing at this point is two-fold - where to get drawings for the Roncz canard and the high-performance rudders. In browsing the forum, I see many mentions of Eureka CNC cores, but cannot find a link to contact him on his site. A source for these drawings would be GREATLY appreciated. If it is possible to build the canard with Eureka's cores and the TERF CD, that would work, too. I am a bit concerned that the last post here was in 2007. Hope all is not lost!
