For all of my aviation friends out there (especially the canard pilots), here are pictures and video from Rough River 2014. This album also includes video of Cozy Girrrl Randi explaining the CG strakes. Thanks also go out to Bob Tilley for preparing a bunch of awesome Jambalaya for the crowd on Saturday!

BTW, sorry for the delay in getting the pictures and video up online. Google+ was having issues with video uploads and they finally fixed it.
Enjoy!

Yes, welcome back CZ and Jon! These forums are like a time machine right now. Hopefully they'll freshen up soon with 2014 dates.
-
We're not expecting to be there till lunch on Friday, be there for the dinner buffet anyhow .. oh joy, real KFC:irked: (where the hell is my pukeface icon Jon?)
Did I see a "we" above? Is Randi better and able to make the trip now? Hope to see you both there...
-
24 hours from now I should be midway across Kansas.
Saturday lunchtime vittles packed (and a pack of name tags too!), my ETA is Thursday eve.
If you're flying, driving, riding, or walking to RR; make it a safe one. See y'all there
Yahoo! Let's get this show on the road!
Rick
Rick, same here - ETA of Thursday evening, leaving NC early Thursday morning. I have the tent, stove, pots, etc. and tunes in order for the ride!

I'm surprised I never posted to this topic a couple of years back. Oh well.
I'm a Software Engineer. Yeah, I'm a geek. For the past years I have been doing server-side Java development getting my hands into all kinds of code at various clients.

Real chili? not turkey or vetgetarian? Real chili.... mmmmmmmm
I'm bringing a big pot for the chili - we're counting on you Steve P to buy some good chili since Nathan won't be there with his homemade chili this year!
I'm also bringing my dual burner camp stove with some smaller pots for whatever else needs warming up.
-
John, thanks for the music setup last year! Sorry to hear you won't be able to make this years Rough River. Hope to see you at the next one!Last year was great! I finally got to put faces to some of the names I've become so familiar with, and got to ride in Dan Cruger's Cozy IV. The tunes were a nice background filler and I really enjoyed doing that for everyone. Unfortunately, I won't be making RR this year due to a couple of previous engagements that must be met. I hope everyone has a great time, a safe journey, and God's Speed.
-
Anyone know if any presentations are planned? If so, who brought the projector last year? And the screen? I know it was hard to see during the day. Maybe the presentations can be moved to the evening after dinner when no flying is going on?
-
If there is electricity, I can bring at least one and maybe two of the 18 quart roaster ovens to keep things warm. I will get there on Sat. morning.
If they rig it up like last year, there will be electricity under the big tent run from the nearby building.
-
Jerry,
What!? No camping outside with nature? I hope the weather is good - I'll be out there in my tent...
-
I will bring my dual burner camping stove to heat up whatever needs heating up on the side. Too bad we won't have Nathan's chili!
-
An update from Nick and what he's doing on his side:
Ed,
We DO have the tent reserved for the weekend. I will make sure it is
set up again. I also got a menu selection from RR with options for
food (if no one steps up to the plate). Please let others (the other
sites you monitor) know this information.
Thanks, and I'll see you at RR.
Nick

You can find my collection of Rough River 2007 pictures and videos along with some older collections at:

Thanks to everyone for making RR 2007 great! It was great seeing old friends and making new ones. I'm already looking forward to 2008.

Ah ha! Your science is off. I missed the year before as well -- the year with all the rain. Must be someone else doing it.
Yes, it was good... But if I recall correctly Jon, you INTENDED to go in 2006, correct? Maybe that was enough for mother nature to throw the rain that way!
-
Great pictures! Looks like you managed to do the kids thing quite well. How did they enjoy it? Give me some pointers for my pre-teens.
Jon, actually, I came without my family this year to Rough River. I may try to convince the rest of the family to come next year, but they have school around that time of the year already. As for the kids you see at Rough River, maybe you see Dani Evansic (Len's wife) and her daughter Mary?
As for AirVenture, yes, we went as a family. It was fun, but it was a bit more hot and humid than what we were expecting in Oshkosh that time of year. I wonder when I'll have to start bugging them for a trip again in 2007...
-
Hi Jon,
Yes, I was fortunate to get a ride in Chris' awesome Cozy N540EZ at RR. With the approaching rain and thunderstorm, the ride was relatively short. One word description: FAST!!
I have been looking for a photo of me in the 540, where did you see it?
Yes, I saw those too in Bruce's CD that he sent me. But I could swear there was a straight-on shot of you too... Hmm, if I ever see it again, I'll email you a copy.

Is the use of LEDs for aviation lights accepted yet? The technology is improving and should be well-suited for aviation use in that they're light, sturdy, small, and require little power.
Does the FAA dictate what type of light to use? I would hope not, as long as it has the brightness needed. The LEDs I have seen didn't look like they would generate enough light though. If there are some that can meet the requirements, that sounds like something to consider!

Thanks Jon - you beat me to my posting on this forum! ;-)
I have finally gotten around to putting up my pictures and videos of AirVenture Oshkosh '06 and Rough River '06 on the net.
You can find them at:

Is anyone (with more space in their vehicle than me? ;-) ) bringing their camcorder to Oshkosh to record the Cozy Forum? I was hoping the recording could then be made available on the net for download by everyone.
If someone is recording it and can make it available in some digital format, I can help out on converting it to a reasonable size afterwards. I'm just trying to see if I will need to bring my camcorder to Oshkosh, along with tapes, battery, tripod, etc. Our car will be cramped as it is.
Please respond ASAP!
Thanks.

Wayne/others,
The webpage says:
Tent Camping (primitive) allowed on the field.
Everyone seems to have their own definition of what primitive camping is. What is the situation with this flyin? Is there a porta-potty/bathroom? No showers? Is camping common at this fly-in?
Thanks.

This sounds like a good event from prior years. Who in this forum will be attending?
I'm planning on attending, but I'm without plane and in the stage of thinking of building a Cozy.

The 2004 presentation was filmed by Mark Beduhn, who is an amateur filmmaker.
You should do no such thing. I have to say, the lack of respect for copyright protection on these fora are, IMNSHO, deplorable.
The DVD was filmed and is owned by Mark Beduhn. If someone wants a copy, they should contact Mark and see if he has any more copies to sell. As of 8/4/2004, he was selling them for $15 including S&H.
Marc, thanks for the info. I was not aware the video Jon was talking about is the one being sold by Mark. That is why I asked if it was a private (non-commercial) video, then we would have no issues in sharing it.
-
Marc, how about coordinating a taping of your presentation as was last time you did it? I still have the DVD of that presentation...
That is a good idea Jon. That would be good for people that can't make it this year.
Regarding last years DVD, I assume this is a private recording, not something you bought? If so, do you think you could make this available for download so interested parties can get a copy? I can assist you in making it available for download if you would like.
Thanks,

Hello everyone.
My name is Ed, I'm a student pilot, and I'd like to one day build my own canard aircraft. Current thought is building a Cozy MkIV, but feel free to convince me of a different type of plane. ;-)
Glad to be part of this community!
