  1. Afternoon all. I picked up a Q2/200/TriQ for an Annapolis MD area school project and would greatly appreciate any help and advice you may have. The kit looks pretty complete although some pieces are clearly aged and will likely need to be replaced. More pictures available if it'll help!
  2. I have a Quickie Q2 kit purchased in 1981 by my father for $10,000. Everything is in its original boxes including the modified by Revmaster VW engine. My father never did anything with the kit besides store it. Some of the boxes have suffered over the years but all the parts seem to be in excellent condition including the engine. Enclosed are a few photos but, I have photos of everything. I have all the plans, packing lists, correspondence, etc. I am asking $5000 or best offer for the kit and $2500 or best offer for the engine.

  4. I have a Quickie 2 kit purchased in 1982, all parts are in their original boxes. My dad bought it and it has remained in storage and untouched for lo these many years. I have all the instructions and other paperwork for the kit. I have more photos, so if there is anything you want to see that is not pictured please contact me via email (dmyoung408@gmail.com) or by phone (715-305-7057). The price is $5000 plus shipping. I also have the Volkswagen engine ($2500 plus shipping) in its unopened box that was purchased to power the plane.
  5. Hello folks, I live in Madison, WI and we are selling my dad's Q2 kit. It was purchased in 1980. It is still in the boxes, we have packing list, and all correspondence, instructions, etc. I need a reasonable estimate on what I can ask for as far as selling it. Again it is Q2 kit in boxes, modified Volkswagen engine, no work has been done on it. Thanks for the help!
  6. I recently came upon one of those "in the right place at the right time" deals and was encouraged by several people in the know (particularly Phil Lankford -- thank you!) to pull the trigger and pick this deal up. Part of the reasoning was to shortcut the flying aspect of this hobby considering my life's unintended distractions these past several years. Until this year I hadn't given Quickie's much serious thought, but after researching I am now convinced they are the most underrated and under-appreciated aircraft in the Rutan-inspired canard fleet (more on that in a future article). This particular aircraft was built by Earnest Martin, a master-builder who finished the interior as though it was the exterior. Even the hidden areas passed my "will I get stabbed" test for clean glass work. Unfortunately the 2nd owner (I am now the 3rd) experienced a collapsed nose gear on landing, causing a prop-strike on what was previously a sweet MT constant speed propeller. There is also some damage under the cowl, but appears limited to the airbox. I have not yet removed the engine, but have gone through the process of trailering it from an outdoor tie-down and into a hanger. While I had several helping hands, this is something I can imagine doing alone (assuming all gear is in place) within 1 hours time in the future. I need to remove the engine and get it checked out, remove the gear and verify the integrity of the firewall mounting points, repair the cowling, and give a good "once-over" all around. Attached are a few low resolution pictures, including one from when Earnest flew the plane to Rough River in 2006. I hope to have it flying in 2015!
