  1. PhatRV- I checked the Canard Owner's & Builder's Association (COBA) database that Kent mentioned above. There's a guy building one in Corona. Others around SoCal too. Jeff
  2. Glad it made in safely. How about posting a few photos of it?
  3. I don't have a Vari-Eze, but I bet the wings come off by just unbolting. Canard fasteners can probably be removed by opening the nose cover and reaching back for the fasteners to be removed. I transported a Long EZ from California to Colorado on a single axle trailer. Here's a couple of examples of Long EZ transport...
  4. Can try Burrall Sanders at Freeflight Composites. He's just outside of Colorado Springs. https://www.freeflightcomposites.com/
  5. I sued Marc Zeitlin at Burnside Aerospace for my pre-buy. https://www.burnsideaerospace.com/
  6. Glad to see you're making progress again. Are the engine mount extrusions the stock 1/8" x 1" x 1" size or have they been increase in size? How far down did you have to move the bracket on the nose gear leg to get full up/down movement? What's going on with the engine and the cylinder corrosion? Have you made a decision on that yet? Jeff
  7. You images of Mark Lytle's Long EZ, see https://www.trade-a-plane.com/search?category_level1=Single+Engine+Piston&make=RUTAN&model=LONG+E-Z&listing_id=2425466&s-type=aircraft
  8. From what I've read, you also want to add two structural members to the engine mount structure.
  9. hdmax - I'd be interested in Long EZ CAD files. I was toying with building my own CAD model as I started building one. But I ended up purchasing a previously completed/flying Long EZ so haven't continued with the modeling effort.

Welcome back Kent Ashton! It's been a while since you've posted here. Have you been okay? Jeff

    Starship

What a Starship doing in Ukraine? I wonder when the Google Maps image was taken.
  12. Got some photos of the sight gauge and fuel probe installations that you can post here?
  13. Did you build that cowl or is it from Featherlite?
  14. Kent- That other post was impressive. How long was the manufacturing process from start to finish (not counting all the precursor analytical and design work)?
  15. Got any better photos of your exhaust valve in that cylinder? Jeff
  16. I recently successfully transported a Long EZ from California to Denver (see images). No issues. What's the span on a Cozy spar? The Long EZ's is 9.5ft. I didn't pull wide load permits due to the hassle involved of doing it for each state I had to pass thru. I just had red flags installed at the widest point of the load. Never got stopped or hassled - even when the towing vehicle had a radiator fan blade fail and blow out the radiator in the middle of the Mojave desert. Two California highway patrol officers stopped to help and never said a word about the trailer width. Jeff
  17. Yes. It's too bad someone couldn't archive all that information before it disappeared. Who runs this forum and pays for it? Jeff
  18. Lauren- I had planned to build a Long EZ, but came across a Long EZ that sat in a hangar unflown for many years. I've got a bit of restoring/updating to get the airplane flying again, but will save alot of time when compared to starting from plans. It makes me sad seeing these airplanes sitting and not flying, or worse yet, seeing one sitting outside, decaying away to the elements. So it will be great to get it back up in the air. You might consider this option, but make sure to have a good pre-buy done by someone who knows canard aircraft. Jeff
  19. I was looking for the long nose mod CAD file. The Open EZ has the "stock" length nose.
  20. Just found this old topic....anyone know where the .zip file now resides that's linked in the first post? Jeff
