  1. Looking through the BOM on Chapter 2 for the fuselage sides in Ch5 it calls for A6-80A bolts. I found a supplier that has A6-80 bolts. the only difference is that the 80 has a hole drilled into the threads for a cotter pin and the 80A doesn't. Has anyone used these bolts before and are they safe to use?
  2. Thanks for all the info, definitely looking forward to building one of these some day.
  3. I was looking at the BOM on the Long EZ plans and I noticed that they ask for 5 pieces of .8" x 24" x48" of PVC r45 foam, Aircraft Spruce or Wicks doesn't stock .8" thick PVC. This foam is used for the fuselage sides. I was wondering what did everyone else used for the fuselage sides? I've been watching a lot of the videos this guy has made in the comments he says he used Dyvinicell from aircraftspruce.com. I was wondering if the 3/4" foam would work or what people have done in the past? I went through some of the Canard Pusher newsletters to try to find anything about materials change with regard to the foam for the fuselage, but came up empty.
  4. I appreciate the help, looks like I have some reading to do this winter.
  5. I'm curious about building a Long EZ and was wondering where do I start? It seems like plans are hard to find. Would I purchase foam cores from eureka cnc or try the hotwire method?
  6. I'm going to go look at it on Saturday. The gentleman that is selling has owned 5 canard aircrafts. He bought it for a winter project and says the build quality is excellent. I'm aware about the corrosion issue that will be the first thing I check. I'll be sure to get a pre buy inspection before deciding to purchase. I appreciate everyone's help on this.
  7. I found a deal on a varieze not to far from where I live, everything is done except that it doesn't have an engine or instruments. I did a quick search for an o-200B for sale and I can find the A models all over the place, but no B's does the vari require that it have the B version. Or doe the B just mean that it doesn't have the starter. I think in the future I would put the lightweight C&B starter on it. I guess what I'm asking is could I buy an O-200A and take the starter off? Wanted to get your thoughts, what about an O-235? It's a bit heavy but could it work to haul two people around and a duffel bag without being at gross?
  8. Thanks for the advice. Hoping for a deal like the one you posted. I think I would still need the plans tho. -Mark
  9. I'm new to the forum and have always been interested in the Vari and Long EZ. Right now I'm more interested in the VariEze since it doesn't require a high HP Lycoming, but still seems like a fast efficient XC plane. I was wondering where I would be able to find plans for the VariEze? Do builders usually go with an O-200 or VW engine? Thanks -Mark
