  1. Yes, I've tested both good and bad (in my case bad were very porous, ~12%) samples, as well as real parts. Yes, there are a lot of limitations. And yes, if you are NDT professional, it might sound silly for you)
  2. Hi all! I think it should have been noted on the plans how many layers to put... It might sound a bit.... crazy... But one can check spar on medical X-ray CT scanner. The canard is narrow enough to fit in it. Scan where where is no metal. At least one can check the thickness of spar caps, and any big void will be visible. If the scanner and settings are good, individual layers can be recognized. Settings for ~bone will work more or less good.
  3. Hello all! I was born and studied automation and aircraft control systems in Ukraine, Kiev. After I first time boarded Antonov An-26 being 7-year old kid, thanks to my dad, I got infected by aviation. In my childhood I was lucky to see and touch monsters like Tupolev Tu-95 and Tu-22, before they were smashed into metal scrap. I was also very lucky to watch Mig-29 military training from the edge of taxiway in now-Russian Crimea. I'm 26. Working with composites for ~6 year. Last 3 years have been working for small helicopter company, Skyline. Was responsible for all composites manufacturing engineering and production on SL-231 project. Hope everyone will see it in Oshkosh again. Here is the link - http://scout.aero/ Now working in Slovakia at c2i.com. We are mostly automotive composites manufacturing company, so to fulfill my passion for aircraft, I want to build one EZ at home. I hope to find support and valuable info here. Also would be great to find European owners and builders of EZs.

    Weight?

Hello canard builders and pilots! I'm new here. Want to build Long EZ. Now in the planning stage. I want to make it light, ideally same weight as in plans. I know, some might say it's impossible. ---- I'm particularly interested in weights of airframe components. If someone has any info, statistics, please post your weight of airplane parts (wings, canard etc). Also would be great to know before and after finishing etc. Particularly I want to know the mass of canard (Roncz) without elevators to check if I calculate it correct. May calculations show ~ 7.7kg prior to finishing or 17.1lb Waiting for feedback!)
