I have installed side windows on my VE (like Klaus's), and also added a fuel sight gauge (tube ran from top to bottom of the strake that extends to the pilots seat) which is a few inches aft of the left window. The problem I have now is how to latch it and unlock it from outside. I have no room for a door on the side:-(
