  1. This one makes me think?? A lever mechanism mounted inside on the roof in a extended straight line behind the door hinges which allowes you to pull the pins out of the door hinge would help to get out of the inverted plane. There was no top impact in the Velocity passengers? I asume the fire killed them.
  2. Thanks for asking: My job is programming and commissioning packaging machinery manly in the beverage industries. I travel a lot and do have very restricted time to follow my hobby. I work most of the time in Breweries all over the world. Don’t thing you will get a drop of beer while you are on site Ok after the job the drinks in the brewery pub are free. Doing this job was a big advantage for the electrics on the Aircraft I used only proximity switches and programmed my landing gear monitoring on a small LOGO control. My cockpit is removable all connections are plugged and alterations are easy.
  3. It looks to me that you are the guy to talk to. Which options do I have? and what would you suggest? change the pistons to high compression pistons but the mechanic after that is still the same and the max rpm remains 2575 and the 200 hp only come with 2700 rpm?? The heat rediation and transfer into the wing spar wing root and cowling by the turbo make the testpilot verry worried. I have the entire area coated with heat protection. The aileron cable is replaced for a teflon coatet cable and shielded with 2 layers of heat protection and an aviation fire hose. Do i need extra cooling for the turbo? According to my opinion he gets as hot as the exhaust pipe and the cool side of the turbo is facing the spar. What are the rpm of the turbo?? (10,000)?? The only modification I made on the engine to fit it into the cowling was the intake ellbow between oil sump and FCU the radius is now closer to the engine side. and therefore is a flex hose between turbo and pop valve. http://blogspace.mweb.co.za/default.aspx?alias=Velocity
  4. What I wanted to say is the oil cooler in front will only work when you are moving forward or a strong wind is blowing on your nose. It is very unefficient at ground handling of the A/C. There is a flap were you can redirect the heated air into the cabin to keep you warm. Sure there is a oilpressure drop by the time you reach the oil cooler I never mesured that one. The indicated oil paressure at the engine is 60psi normal. Yes I have multible oil coolers parallel to the one in front to get the heat away from the turbocharged engine.
  5. I'm a Velocity builder The plane is registered for aproval flying ZU-DZU I'm using a TIO 360 C1A6D reason takeoff at 5500ft and I got it for a good price. Others talking about swinging a cat in the engine cowling in my one you can let a mouse go and she will go nowere. Testflying is most of the time short reason engine is getting hot. I hav added 2 additional oil coolers one inside the cowling with electric fans to keep things cool on the ground and an additional one on the bottom of the cowling in the airflow which should take away the heat generated by the turbo and the engine parallell to the one in the nose which I see as a cabin heater. CG is out and flying alone requires 15Kg led in the nose. Lately the test pilos refused to go with it when the turbo is in it so I removed it now the engine is so slug I'm worried we probably need the entire 1.8 km runway and a bit more to get airborne. Any body els out there who tried a TIO
  6. have done that it looks good I applied resin to the panel and put the carbon on there after let is seep through from the back and stipple the dry areas to maintain the texture of the carbon fiber to avoid a reflecting surface. The large circuit brakers are mounted to the keel cente i.e landing gear; control main; alternator and key switch stay int the A/C the rest is pluged so tha panel can be removed in 30min. Slanting the panel may force you to use electronic instumentation see other comments I put a picture in my blog http://blogspace.mweb.co.za/default.aspx?alias=Velocity

    Zoche diesels

I asked Zoche in 1998 the first time about his engine when my Velocity was still bits and pices in the garage. He mentioned it will take another 2 years to get it certified. I was in Munich to visit him he did not have time. An other canadr builder in South Africa also contacted him reasently and the 2 year story came up again. My personal opinion: He got paid to stop the progress and he cashed in on an German award for some engineering achivement. The website is zoche.de He is probably siting on his payment and has nothing to worry, not like Thilert he has grey hair by now.
  8. Hallo Lynn I think we are on the wrong Forum "Sales" This is the firs time I'm working with this Forum stuff I never bothered to type around the world and only used e-mail also that bloging is new for me I just started it today. Should we better talk in an other forum like Turbocharging The Idea with the pressure different detection is exelent I will try that. I added 2 more pix "bottom cowling" with oil cooler

  10. What I have done so far: Install large oil cooler #2 inside the engine cowling with 2 electric fans to take the heat away when running on the ground waiting for take off clearence. It is doing the job but it is not good enough for flying Install smal oil cooler #3 at the bottom cowling housed in a external intake exit system not to interfere with the standard updraft cooling of the engine. The area around the turbo charger is covered with heatshielding the aileron cable is replaced with a teflon cable and covered with 2 layers heat shielding and a firehose. My question is has any body tryed this or in the process of trying it? website info will follow!
  11. I have the same engine installed in my Velocity. Is there anybody els out there with the same configuration? Please contact me at alfons@iafrica.com I have major problems with oil temperatur and the test pilot flying my Velocity refused to go again with the turbo charger in it!
  12. I have a Velocity and big problems with this oul cooler lets call it cabin heater it is a better word for it. there is no cooling on the ground when tha fan at the back is blowing
