  1. What I might do then is see if maybe I can use it after he is done with it. I am quite a ways away from building my spar anyways...but I thought maybe I could skip ahead and do it now. But if he has it I can wait for awhile until he is done with it. Craig
  2. Do you still have the jig....if so I will take it off of your hands. Craig
  3. Ok the next question I have is this. So I compared the doubler that is currently installed to the dimensions stated in the plans and the doubler was cut to the proper size. If I were to carefully remove the doubler by cutting it away from the longeron and the fuselage side, would I be able to reattach it the proper location without any structural consequences? Also If I were to leave the Doubler in place and add an additional piece of spruce to increase its length, would the extra length of the doubler interfere with any other areas of the build being that the doubler is now approximately 1" closer to the instrument panel? Thanks Craig
  4. Ok the front of the Doubler is located at 6.75, sorry about being so vague. As far as you saying just flox another piece in, should I do a scarf joint or just butt the other piece up to it and then flox it into place?
  5. Here are some pics to explain my predicament.
  6. Ok so I purchased a partially built cozy. I am working on chapter six and am at the point where I need to install F-28 to the upper longerons. The problem I have is that the previous builder cut the small block attached to the upper longeron to short by an inch or so. So the F-28 will not fit in the proper location without lengthening it. I am wonder if I should cut out the block completely and install a new one or should I do some kind of splice joint and try to lengthen it. I hope my written description helps, if not I am about to go down and take some pictures to help people visualize my predicament. Craig
  7. Please feel free to come by, we are about 30 minutes from there. Craig
  8. Ok I see now, I was looking at the wrong updates. The ones I was looking at were for version 1 and 2.
  9. Yes I have edition #3. My plans # is 1435.
  10. Ok so I am going through the plans and making corrections and I have come to a correction that confuses me. In newsletter 35 it states to "# Chap. 7, p. 5 Step 5: Delete para. 4 starting with "Now..."." My question is why is this removed? from reading the paragraph it seems important. Is this done at another time? Or is this not necessary anymore? Thanks, Craig
  11. PS...What is your plans serial #? My plans serial # is 1435
  12. Just wanted everyone to know that I purchase a Cozy project last night. It is quite early in the build with only chapter 6 partially complete. I do however have the materials and epoxy to complete it through chapter 7. Thanks for everyones help in regards to the inspection of the project. I was able to find a local builder that was very knowledgeable and helped me inspect the "canoe" very carefully. Well enough typing I think it is time to get to work....and make sure these plans are fully up to date. Craig
  13. Is having it cut out this way going to diminish any structural integrity of the IP? Also will it cause any future problems with the build in later chapters? I'm fine with the idea that I can simply replace the foam that was removed and re-fiberglass the IP to make it conform to the plans. In the end I just don't want more headaches then necessary. I think I will call the seller today and ask him why he made the cuts the way he did. If anyone else has any more comments on this I would appreciate them. Also is $1500 a decent price for a project this far in the build? I added up the cost of materials including epoxy and it seems to be a good deal. Craig
  14. I think it's a pretty good deal, the guy is asking 1500, and includes everything to finish through chapter 7. I was just Kind of looking at where the leg cutouts are on the IP and it appears that one side was cut out more than the other. Maybe it is the way it is supposed to be I just wanted to make sure.
