  2. Please correct this problem for me. It says on my screen that I can't post although I "may" edit posts I made before. I can't think of any reason this should be so.
  3. Gentlemen, Let's be honest here, this appears to have started as most "palace coups" start, over who will be in control. After all the talk of spanners hung on the wall vs airplanes flying, administering a site like this requires patience, time, and computer skills. The administrator is not authoring the technical information, he is moderating the site and keeping it running. I only just started here, and surprisingly (lol) found the community excellent and the site useful even without the contributions of the coup participants. I hope to enjoy this site for some time to come as I build my Mark IV and need advise and direction. Not to say I will never visit another site, but so far this site seems to be a great place. For all the administrators, thanks for contributing your time and effort! Mark Boyles, PE
  4. Thanks for the "self serving plug" and all the responses to it! I followed the advise (mandatory or not!).
  5. Well, I know that the Spanish outfit is shipping theirs as a certified engine on several planes. I had understood that the 160Hp experimental version of the Delta Hawk is shipping even though the 180 and 200 hp versions aren't.
  6. I have been considering using a Delta Hawk diesel engine on my Cozy. I understand it is flying on a Velocity. I like the lower operation cost and greater range. Anybody else consider this engine, or the SMC diesel (I think that is right) made in Spain?
  7. Hi Kent, Yes I am Spartanburg, have been stalling (pardon the pun) getting started waiting on a hangar at Spartanburg Memorial. I am thinking I might get started earlier, but moving the shop later might be a hassle too. I was also thinking there should be a builder's group here or Greenville to get into. I joined EAA and was thinking that would provide a connection. Any suggestions? Mark Boyles
  8. Thanks folks. I think the repairman issue is a big one. It certainly will effect the cost of flying after completion. Not having owned a plane (always rented) how expensive does all the A&P stuff of normal flying become? Thanks! Mark
  9. I am confused about the consequences of purchasing a partially built plane instead of starting from scratch. I have purchased the plans (No.1511) and plan to start from scratch but I saw say someone suggest that lot of planes never get completed and recommending to buy one of these to complete How does the FAA regard the completed plane with respect to the 51% rule? Is there a % complete or in the case of the Cozy Mark IV, a particular chapter, where after that point it becomes an issue? Buying something partially completed to save time sounds attractive, but I don't want to get an ugly surprise later! I have been unable to find anything that really speaks directly to this.
  10. Ok, I posted a response (trying to be helpful). It has not shown up and of course I still have few permissions. Did you not get around to approving it yet? Or was it rejected for some reason I can't imagine? Thanks Mark
  11. Great setup. For task lighting (at the bench level for example) you want 90 to 100 foot candles ... seems like a lot of light but it will reduce eye strain a LOT!
  12. Thanks, it I understand you correctly then, after I post the first time and it is approved then all will be well. Thanks also for keeping the trash out, I have all the viagra ads that I will ever need! lol
