  1. Thanks.....Got one on order as we speak!
  2. Where can I inquire to purchase a Gary Hertzler prop for my Long EZ??? Regards,
  3. Worked 5 years for NASA, JSC, Houston, TX prepping the Space Shuttle and DOD payloads (yeah, spy satellites) for flight. Now, I have my own engineering firm specializing in systems integration, security, fire, CCTV, audio/video, satellite links, home theaters here in Honduras, Central America.... Cheers,
  4. Thanks for the info.....I also Ditto on the readily available prop. Let me know about your new prop and maybe we can share the cost of production!!!! Regards,
  5. I replaced my 149 teeth ring about a year ago because of broken teeth. Finally, I determined that my SkyTec starter with inadequate battery voltage was breaking the teeth and also the starter casing. In other words, you need a decent battery current to prevent starter/teeth conflict. After two Sky tec casing failures, i decide to use the Kelly Aerospace E-drive starter with higher capacity battery and had never had a problem again...I highly recommend them. Regards,
  6. Neilk: I have a Long EZ with O 320 with and Aymuth Cruise Wood Prop. Thinking of "experimenting" with a new prop. What are you using??? Performance??? Or any recommendation of prop???? Thanks,
  7. I have a Long EZ with 0-320. Pilot weight, in this plane, is from a minimum of 180 lbs. to a maximum of 250 lbs to be within the CG range. I also ditto with the above comments with respect to empty weight, fuel and other characteristics....I am currently 235#, usually fly solo and it flies great..... Cheers,
  8. Highly recommend the Aveo FLash-SeriesLP Wing Pair. Position+Strobe, New LED technologies, $744.00 + Shipping and Handling. We are dealer of Aveo. Let me know if your interested....
  9. I had to use a bit longer bolts to compensate for the width of the two oversize washers. The original nut plate was bent a bit from the overtightening. However, the thick washers recommended, have more area and are stronger than the original nutplate. I have to agree that this is better, more adequate way of securing the canard...Thanks for sharing your insights.... Afif HR-ATQ Long EZ Honduras
  10. I changed the bolts with self locking nuts and 2 1.5" oversize washers....Work out pretty nice. Thanks Waiter!!! AFIF HR-ATQ, LONG EZ HONDURAS
  11. Thanks.....I might change for self locking nuts and the two large washers. Large, what diameter??
  12. Took one nut plate off and inspected it before introducing the new bolts and it was integral. Tried the new bolts and it fit pretty tight but I did unscrewed the bolt and checked the bolt's thread and it was AOK....
  13. My Long EZ has 914 Hours and first flight was 20 years ago. Every month I check the canard bolts and torque them because they do become loose. I decided to take them out to inspect them because one of them was not tightening enough. I'm glad I did. Look at the attached photos and you'll understand why..... I replaced them immediately. Is this pretty common??? Please inspect your canard bolts frequently for integrity..... Afif Saybe Long EZ, HR-ATQ Honduras, Central America
  14. Is there substancial friction when deployed on the Ground???? Is the cable assembly free from obstructions???? How is the tension of the cable?? You can also lift the nose to a higher angle of attack to reduce the speed, deploy and then lower the nose. Finally, you can convert the mechanical assembly to an electric one and forget about the struggle in final approach.....Wayne Lanza from Composite Designs makes a conversion kit. Contact him at wlanza@bellsouth.net. Regards, Afif Saybe Long EZ HR-ATQ Honduras
  15. Thanks. It looks like a good "safety" upgrade. Would like to see pictures of the installed servo and rod to determine space requirements for my bird......
  16. Any experience/comments of installation and performance of a Trio EZ pilot on the Long EZ??? Photo documentation of installation?? Thanks in advance. Afif Saybe Long EZ HR-ATQ
  17. Any Long EZ Modifications for electric speed brake????
  18. Thanks will look in the VariEz section. I would definetly use the actuator as an upgrade. Any particular model??? Thanks.
  19. I need to re-assemble my landing speedbrake because one of the cable snagged and snapped. This is the second time it happens and it was very tedious to re-build it. I'm unanle to find the section on the Terf CD of the proper way to assemble the speebrake mechanism. Any other diagrams and procedures? Thanks in advance. Afif Saybe LONG-EZ HR-ATQ, Honduras
  20. Thanks and wish you the best on completing your EZ. Click on this link for the nose bumper mod......Hopefully we can meet soon! http://www.maddyhome.com/canardpages/pages/waynehicks/chapter_13_8.htm Best regards, Afif
  21. On Nov 11 2006 I suffered a nose gear up landing. I was devasted when I saw the damaged and a little bit nervous since I was a non-builder. It took some time and effort, studying the plans, evaluating every recomendation, importing the building materials and just trying to get started!!! I'm happy to report that after a couple of weeks of working non-stop, my Long EZ is repaired and better than ever. I installed a new strut, new EZ-Noselift, AEX module, emergency power, and a beefed-up aluminum/poly nose plate to protect the front of the bird in an recurring and disgusting nosegear up landing. Before and after pictures tell the story...... I've never could have accomplished this task without the creative minds, dedication, infortmation and support of the members of this forum. My special thanks to Wallis R Glos Jr (RICK) for all his detailed drawings and brainstorming of "how to" for a fellow canardian non-builder. Thanks Rick!!!!After working with the materials and studying the plans, I totally respect and understand the passion/dedication to build and make these birds as unique and special to each one of us. I also have to say that I feel safer too. I was committed to make this negative incident into a positive experience and I'm very satisfied with the lesson and the final results....Once again, my respect and kind thankfulness to all of you who contributed to help a fellow member in need.... Regards, Afif Saybe Long EZ HR-ATQ, Honduras
