  1. Thanks, guys. I'll ask about the manufacturers of the cloth and check the links provided. A point of clarification, though... The thicker material is actually half the cost of the thinner material. That's right... .011" thickness w/ a 12x12 WxF is around US$31 per yard where the .007" thickness w/ a 12.5x12.5 WxF is nearly double at US$58 per yard (each at 50" widths). -C.
  2. Software sales/consultant. I do everything from the hands-on technical work to the business value/fit of our software and services. More and more on the sales side these days, which is fine by me. -C.
  3. I'm researching materials and suppliers and have come across some pretty significant differences in pricing. Those differences in pricing, however, are not alone...they include differences in thickness, warp & fill of the materials. Given two suppliers (carbon fiber for this example) of the same style (282) and same weave (plain), one supplier sells a .011" thickness w/ a 12x12 (WxF) for almost twice the cost per yard of the other suppliers .007" thickness w/ a 12.5x12.5 (WxF). That's a pretty significant difference in thickness (approx 57% more)...less significant (apparently) in WxF. My question is how truly significant are the differences in thickness and WxF between these materials? Thanks. -C.
  4. Amazing what a little more research will turn up. Found the info on the Open-EZ and the CD from TERF. Looks like I've found essentially what I need. Now I just need to convince the wife (t-minus 3 days) that we need to move the addition to the house/garage up by a year... Thanks. -C.
  5. I have considered the Long-EZ. In fact, it was the aircraft that inspired me in the first place. Operating albeit w/ some admitted ignorance on my part, my desire for the Varieze over the Long is one of a little bit economics and a little bit...well, purpose. I recently purchased Cozy MKIV plans #1508. I chose the Cozy MKIV (which I was lead to by the Long) based upon the practicality: range, passengers/payload, comfort, cruising speed. And, despite everything I've read warning against this other factor...emotion. I was inspired by the Long EZ and chose to go the canard/composite route, from scratch. But back to "purpose". I'll get the practicality out of the Cozy. The Varieze or Long will be another project...something I can be a little more innovative on, that I can explore a bit more with and take a bit slower. -C.
  6. I'm looking for a set of Varieze plans. I'm looking to build on my own, from scratch, but I could potentially buy a low-progress build that includes the plans, if the price is right. Contact me here. Thanks. -C.
  7. Hey, Curt. I got your Email, but I'm guessing you didn't get my response. I'll try sending it again. In the meantime...hell yeah, I can make it up to Longmont. Just name the day and I'm there. Mornings work fine. Really appreciate your help. Look for an Email from me shortly. -C.
  8. Curt and Gail, Thanks for the response. I actually just got back from the EAA ch301 meeting out at Centennial. I spoke to a few guys there, one in particular (John L.) who gave me some great information. He mentioned a few names and one person who recently bought an in-progress Long-EZ and plans. Their names escape me now, though. I'd love to take you up on that offer for a ride! She's a beauty! -C.
  9. Hey, folks. I'm looking for information on any active pilots or any Canard groups in Colorado. I'm in the Denver area, but I'm willing to travel to any gatherings. Searches on "Denver" didn't turn up a whole lot in the context I was looking for. Any help? -C.
