Great website Mcfly. I'm a big fan of the Quickie and all things Rutan. I love my Quickie 1, I have only had it for 12 months and now I live in china I don't get to fly it that often. For a pilot on a budget I don't think you will find many aircraft so cheap to own, run and with this performance. The only time my Quickie will come on the market is after I'm gone..!!!

Hi Raiki. Yep, thats the one.!! Found it sitting in a farm shed in kapunda gathering dust, it had not flown in 6 years after Gordon died, the son had it. The paint is in need of some TLC but the rest is in good condition, the engine has only done 150 hours and started almost first pull after six years, I can't wait to fly it this weekend. :D Hows your project going.???? Hi all. I hear ya, we need more designers like Rutan, I have been a big fan of his aircraft for many years, I was lucky enough to purchased a 2nd hand Quickie 1 at a very cheap price, it has a 503 rotax and flies like a dream. I don't have a lot of hours under my belt but was keen maybe a little crazy to get behind the controls and was amazed how eazy it was to fly, it's everything I dreamed in my aircraft, fast, cheap, eazy to fly. I think people are a bit put off by unconventional designed aircraft, the quickie revamped into a cheap kit would be great for the recreational aviation market, I would buy another one. Craig

Hi. I just purchasted a Quickie Q1 from a deceased estate three weeks ago, the aircraft last flew six years ago, all it needed was new fuel lines and its good to go. I gave it a bit of run up and down the runway today and was very impressed with the ground handling, I had heard a alot of bad press about the quickies with them nosing over, I was running it on a rough bush strip, not only could I run the engine up to full power with the brakes on without the tail lifting I could also use full brake at about 40 kt without the tail lifting off the ground. I hope to have it flying in a week or two I will keep you posted.

with an overnight temp of around 5 deg, I hope your shed is heated or most of your building will be on the weekend:D congrats on the plans, very gealous. :envy:

Hi Ya Jamie I work in the composite industry in Adelaide for Bolly Props (ultralight props), Im using this forum to learn more about what materials are used and how to use them, but you should be able to get all the popular epoxies and foams from Australia maybe even in SA, if you know what your looking for just let your fingers do the walking. If your looking for a certain brand and spec resin and can't find it let me know and I will check with my supplier. regards Craig
