  2. Could the pin flex at the failure point if the bore was not deformed?
  3. Bolting the flange to the mounting pad would arrest the forces flexing the pin and deforming the bore. A bolt circle of 4 or more counterbored holes would be better than the 3 I drew. Larry
  4. This scheme works well for machine elements. Use generous filet radiuses. Larry
  5. Have a certified welder TIG weld your parts. Advise him (or her) of the parent material specification (1020,4130, etc.) DO NOT CROME PLATE A WELDED AIRCRAFT COMPONENT! A nasty phenomenon called hydrogen induced cracking can occur when the heat affected zone is sealed by chrome plating. Most racing organizations forbid chrome plating any critical suspension or safety component. Other, more porous plating process like nickel, are OK.
  6. WHAT?!?! Friends don't let friends write G-code by hand. Didn't someone send you CAM software last year? Don't make me drive down there for an intervention.
  7. Eight tiny reindeer converted to a pusher configuration?
  8. I don't know if EZjet was involved, but it's Shockly's plane.
  9. From Shockly's web site: THE DECISION TO GET INVOLVED IN THE AIR SHOW ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY CAME BY COINCIDENCE Many in the air show industry claim to be the first ground act to perform at an air show, the truth is Les ran his jet dragster at the Mojave, CA airport Air Race and Air show in 1978. At that time, Les was asked by air show promoters to perform at their shows, but Les's busy schedule at racetracks would not allow him to do it. In 1987, the producer of an air show in Enid, Oklahoma saw the Shockwave at a Truck and Tractor pull in Oklahoma City and wanted to book him at his show. Les has been a longtime aviator and remembered how much he enjoyed the show at Mojave in 78 and decided to do the Enid Oklahoma Show. Small world. Wonder how he discovered canards?
  10. You win again!!! Les Shockly puts jets on everything. Pick-ups, dragsters, funny cars, semi tractors, why not funny little plastic airplanes?
  11. Google "FORTAL" for material specs. Check Ebay for "FORTAL 7075". Fantastic material to work with and great physical properties!
  12. Does anyone have a program that will convert the Roncz Canard PDF into a DXF, DWG, or IGES format? Ronz Canard.pdf

  17. rnbraud, You need a short, stub length .3125 diameter drill bit with a .25 pilot. If you havn't solved this problem yet, send me a PM with your contact info. I'll grind one up and send it to you. Larry
  18. I built a set of hinges for Mackie Chapman's Berkut (#007?) many years ago. I still have the CAD files on an old computer. If you want, I'll dig 'em up and send a copy to you.
