  1. Robert, This aircraft was listed on eBay about three times. I don't have the link to these auctions anymore, but if memory serves me, one of the eBay listings did mention that the engine mount was for a corvair engine. Tom
  2. Steve. Thanks for the relpy. I wasn't quick enough, the O-235 sold already. I guess this gives me more time to consider the O-320. Tom.
  3. Hey, everyone. A non-pilot friend of mine called last night to tell me he knows of an O-235 for sale. He had a look at it for me today; he says it's an O-235C and there's TC223 marked on it, bendix mags, starter. He says the name plate says 100 HP but now he's not sure if it was really 108. So, my question: If I remember correctly, the Long-EZ requires an engine with provision for a mechanical fuel pump; does anyone know if the engine above is suitable/desirable for a Long-EZ? Also, he says it's due for overhaul, but otherwise looks like it's in good condition. I didn't expect to be shopping for an engine so soon, so I really haven't spent any time learning about what I need to look for. Any idea what this engine might be worth? Thanks. Tom. Alberta, Canada.
  4. I never thought I'd ever see a set of Long-EZ plans NOT sell on eBay. Not a single bid. Hmmm. Item number: 150365220170 I guess most are going the Open-EZ route? Tom.
  5. Arnold, The TERF CD's are available on eBay with a reserve price of $150 (so I'm told). Hope this helps. Tom.
  6. Aww, c'mon Marc, I'd tell YOU if I knew. Tell you what, send me a private message and you can tell me all about it and no one else will have to know. Just kidding. Thanks anyhow. Tom
  7. Guys, Thanks for the replies. Drew, I saw that too; I didn't believe it either. Marc, okay I'll bite the hook. Is it in storage, on display, or is it flying? Or none of the above? Inquiring minds want to know!
  8. I'm curious, does anyone know where the Long-EZ prototype, N79RA, is now? I expected it to be in a museum somewhere, but so far haven't found out where. Tom Got Plans! Alberta, Canada.
  9. Rick and Neil, Thanks for the replies. The fellow that has this antenna for sale offered me a good price for all the EZ items he has for sale so I guess the antenna will just be an 'added bonus'. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into getting the antenna kit from RST. Tom
  10. Spodman and Rick, Thanks for the replies. I've never actually seen this antenna kit (except for the photo that I attached to this thread) so I'm not sure exactly what's included in the package. I guess what I really wanted to know is, is one antenna basically as good as the next? I think I'll just purchase it and see where it takes me. Thanks again for your help. (This is just the start to a looong list of dumb questions I know I'll be asking! Tom.
  11. Hi, The fellow who sold me his Long-EZ plans now has a few other items to sell. One of the items is labeled "Transparent High Gain Antenna Tape" and from the photo (which I've attached) it appears as though he purchased it from Rocky Mountain Instrument. I contacted them to get the skinny on this item and their reply was that this is not one of their products. I assume the current owner purchased this antenna in the 80's so maybe it is just an old/discontinued product. Anyhow, my question: Since so much has changed over the years, does this look like something I would want to use in my Long-EZ? What do you suppose it is worth? Bear in mind I'm a complete rookie when it comes to radios/avionics and so far have no idea what will be in my panel. Thanks. Much appreciated. Tom Alberta, Canada

    Trim Problem

Hi, Dave/Group. As a relative rookie to all things EZ, I really shouldn't be offering any advice regarding your problem, however, coincidentally, I was reading the Canard Pushers tonight and came across just this topic. Have a look at Canard Pusher #47, page 8. Half-way down the right column, is a discussion of elevator shape which seems to match the problem you are having. This may or may not be your particular problem, just thought it might help. Good luck. Tom. (Got Plans!)
  13. Mickeyt9, Hi. I could be wrong (pretty good chance of that actually!!) but I think Wayne Blackler has a modified canopy latch that uses some sort of slotted key from the outside to open the canopy. Maybe this will work for you????? Tom.
  14. k1234, Thanks for the reply. I got impatient so I just went ahead and printed them 11"x17" (both the plans and the Section II). As for the "scale of full-size patterns" I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there. Happy building! Tom
  15. Hi, all. First off, sorry if I've posted to the wrong area; I wasn't sure which forum was most appropriate for this topic. Anyhow...I bought a copy of the TERF CD's and would like to print out the Long-EZ plans and the Section II engine installation plans so I can write in all the plans changes from the Canard Pushers. Can anyone tell me what size paper the original LEZ plans and section II are printed on, and if there are any scaling issues that I need to be aware of. Thanks, Tom.
  16. Hey, Guys and Gals, I live a couple hours drive SE of Calgary, Alberta and was wondering if there are any Long-EZ (or Open-EZ, VariEze, etc.) builders in southern Alberta? I would sure like to see one under construction; maybe even help with a lay-up or two. Thanks. Tom.
