  1. Hmmm, Supposedly the plane -(avionics+engine) is about $15,000. Have the estimates that I have been hearing off, or is the extra $7k in equipment and/or upgrades?
  2. One option is to have an aluminum blank cut out to hold your instruments, then take it and a template with the exact positions of all the words (maybe an autocad drawing that has the holes and the words in relation) to an anodizer. You could have the lettering anodized on. It would be pretty trick.
  3. It's been a year, where is the plane?
  4. So how are canards WRT crosswinds? Looks like ice is just plain out. Anyone fly in Seattle heavy rain?
  5. Here, there are actually quite a few paved runways. Obviously the cozy could not operate out of the gravel or roadbase type runways, but even the nearby village of Galena, pop 700ish has a paved airport as it is a regional hub. But mainly I was thinking of airborne conditions. Flying in -45 degree weather (but always keeping an eye on icing conditions) and dealing with high turbulance/heavy rain. Perhaps some folks have rough weather stories that would shed some light?
  6. Has anyone given serious thought to using a 1000cc or larger superbike engine? They have the hp:weight problem well under control. They are fuel-injected, and as an example the Yamaha 1000cc engine makes 180hp. Some bike engines require valve adjustments every 2000-4000 miles, so perhaps a larger, less extremely tuned engine would be more suitable.
  7. Howdy all, Are the Cozy IV or Dragonfly planes suitable for Alaska weather, namely -45 degrees and/or severe rain over the islands? How is it with extreme turbulance? I understand the roncz(sp) wings are pretty much the way to go, but are they enough? What else can be done?
