    Float levels

I know this was discussed recently, but I forgot to copy it. What is the float level measurements for the MS carb? My engine is a Lyc B-3B, 160hp. I'm not at the shop, so don't have the carb no.--its a xx4 typical type tho. Thanks Steve Crouch LEZ N180EZ In Flight tests
  2. Found one in FL awhile ago--thanks for the info.
  3. Looking for an O-320 flywheel- 149 tooth, large drive pully (not the 71/2 inch small one), 7/16 bolt holes. Let me know at scrouch@isd.lacounty.gov Steve Crouch KWHP LEZ N180EZ
  4. Thanks for that Terry. Yes, the Saber extention and the flywheel both match the crank end using the 7/16 bolts.
  5. Ooops--sorry I misstyped. My engine is an O-320 # B3B (160hp) with conical mount. It was recently OH at Exodus Air Service at Fox Field Airport in Lancaster, CA. Sorry for the error- I'm looking at too many numbers today. Steve Crouch LEZ N180EZ
  6. Featherlite sells it and the piece that the gear leg retracts into, but you can build your own by microing some soft foam in the area- shape it- cover it with duct tape and layup two or three plies of BID. The same thing works for the nose gear operating mech. cover. this reduces the air blowing in that area. Steve Crouch N180EZ KWHP (SoCal)
  7. My project has a newly overhauled E2A O-320 with a conical mount. My understanding is this is an older motor design that has a few challenges that I am facing. first there is no boss mount for the "U" shaped generator mounting bracket. B&C solved this by sending me a very well designed mount that attaches to the case bolts and the starter. So, that issue is behind me. Next is the flywheel. The flywheel that came with the core is a 149 tooth that I had rebuilt with a new ring gear. The issue is it has a small pulley which I understand will not work with the Lightspeed ignition. That unit needs the space of the large pulley to mount the pickup behind the flyweel. Additionally, I don't see mounting holes on the case for the pickup. Has anyone run into this and am I resolved to using the small pulley and buying the electronic system with the mag hole unit sold by Klaus? Thanks for any input you may have. 9. Thanks guys--y'all always come through.
  10. I understand Ken Miller no longer offers the angled oil filter adaptor. Does anone know a reasonably priced source? Thanks Steve Crouch KWHP LEZ N180EZ starting to wire.
  11. I just received a beautiful tinted LEZ canopy from Todd's canopies. It is a great piece of work. The only problem is it has a 2 inch crack on the right front part of the nose (likely took a bump in shipping). The crack has been stop drilled so it is stabilized. Todd is making a replacement this week--no questions asked. Now what to do with this one. Anyone out there want a new bargain long ez canopy still wrapped in plastic. I figure the blimish (not very pronounced) will be covered about one third after intallation. (It really is a great looking unit.) Or, a portion of the canopy could be used for a different type of a/c. I paid $480 (shipping included) for an undamaged one so Todd is backing that up. Anyway, it is available for pick-up in the Los Angeles area (no shipping). Or it can be picked up at Elwood Johnson's hanger (KWHP) Whiteman Airport (I know he won't mind) Price is $150 which is what Todd is out for shipping the replacement canopy to me from Florida. I don't want a dime out of it. The ck would be made to Todd and will cover some of his loss. If anyone is interested let me know. Or if you want info from Todd his no. is 954-579-0874. We spoke this am and I indicated I would post this. Steve Crouch LEZ N180EZ (Painting-wiring next)
  12. I know this has been a topic prior. What are the sources for a LEZ canopy? I know Todd is one. Does anyone have his no.? Steve Crouch SoCal LEZ N180EZ (painting parts)
  13. I lost the picture of the LEZ over Colorado Springs. Does anyone have it. I'd like it as my screen background. Thx.
  14. Jerry, I did a quick ck and found the out of balance aileron's rod is about 1/4 to 3/8 inch closer to the hinge centerline than the one that is nearly balanced correctly. You guys may have id'd my problem. I'm going to ck all the dimensions per plans & then redo to correct. Thanks for making a head scratcher more understandable.
  15. Wayne, your comments are appreciated. The reason I sanded most of the glass and filler off is that the control surface was not going to balance the way it was- as built by others. I figured that the only way was to remove the offending (too heavy) build-up and re-glass carefully. But, you have pointed out something I have not checked. The balancing rod may not be the appropriate distance from the hinge point. Just a little would make a big difference. I'll check that out. I never intended to sand it down and then used it in that condition. What I'll do now, thanks to your input, is check the rod location, sand down to the foam, and then reglass as per plans. Thanks for your help. Your comments have been extremely useful now & in the past in preparing my project correctly.
  16. I'm at the aileron control installation stage on my LEZ and have a balancing issue. On side balances fine- when filled and painted it will be in the proper range per plans. The other side, however, hangs tail down well out of range. I tried adding the max .3 lbs at the rod side, but due to the short moment arm to the hinge balance point, had little effect. I then ground off most of the glass (about 75%- both sides) almost to the foam. Even in this condition the aileron is only just w/in the range. It will never pass w/ a layer of glass, filler and paint. What to do? Has any body gone thru this & how did you solve the problem?
