  1. Back to the original thread, spar cap trough dimensions for Roncz canard on a Long-Ez. Why not just use the Cozy dimensions and make a note that the layup schedule is per Cozy plans, making a slightly heavier canard that's slightly stronger? Tell builders to take a big crap before they fly and it will balance out the weight difference. Or, figure out the reduction in spar cap thickness per the layup schedule differences between the two planes and re-dimension the trough shallower from the Cozy dimensions.
  2. One thing preventing a direct answer to this might be the fact that the current owner of the intellectual property we're talking about (Aircraft Spruce and Supply owns the rights to the Cozy Development Corp materials) has people sign a license agreement when they buy the plans. So plans owners might be a little hesitant to make copies and distribute the materials. Here's the license agreement. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pdf/cozylicense.pdf If you are interested in making parts available to plans owners you could talk directly with Aircraft Spruce and figure something out. Just a suggestion...
  3. Build it to sit off center (left or right, your preference) to put your hand on the stick in the plans location? Essentially, widen one seat and eliminate the other side. Are you assuming you have to sit on the centerline? I would be asking questions about the structural effects of moving the heat duct etc off center.
  4. What day will this be? I'm there Mon-Thu with my SO, Thu-Sun with my parents and daughter. I'll be staying offsite at a hotel every night. My focus in 05 was SS1. This year it's Cozy MKIV.
  5. You forgot the smiley there... I can't see a few ounces difference on one strake causing a list on a ~1000lb airframe.
  6. Orville and Wilbur Wright? Sorry, couldn't resist.
  7. If I'm reading this right, you're going to run the motor 100% of the time to pressurize the bladder? Going to run out of battery, fast, that way.
  8. I was within touching distance of this beautiful airplane. This is my father (hat with many pins and camera around his neck) talking to the owner/pilot about the Collins Pro Line avionics he helped build (he was a test equipment manager at Collins before he retired). It's heartbreaking to think of the fate of the rest of the fleet.
  9. Might also be conservative numbers for the Long-Ez? (waiting for Marc to check in on this forum and correct me...)
  10. iirc from reading through threads, the Cozy uses the same wings (airfoil and planform but have spars?) , canard, and geometry as a Long. I do not know about Long-EZ, but there was an update to the canard incidence jig for the Cozy, and the canard is shorter than the original Cozy plans, so it may be shorter than a Long-Ez canard. I'm in pre-build reading through the plans stage of my Cozy. I have no experience with Long-Ez.
  11. Maybe I missed it, but where are you located?
  12. WE ARE ALL WONDERING WHY THIS HAPPENENED AND HOW WE CAN AVOID THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM. WILL WE BE HEARING MORE DETAILS IN THE FUTURE TO HELP US?? http://www.cozybuilders.org/Desert_Center/index.html Short version: Torque propellor bolts on the manufacturer's recommended schedule.
