  1. Your question was one that I had considered for a long time. I bought my plans about a year ago (1278, maybe one of the first AC Spruce sold) and have been on hold for awhile while other "life events" worked themselves out. That being said, I chose to use the MGS products for the virtually zero odor... I too will start on the basement and graduate to the full two car garage as needed... I went to another builders layup who was using the MGS and was really surprised by the lack of fumes / odor / etc. Whether this equates to "safe for infants" I seriously doubt it, but its a far sight better than some epoxies I have been around. And yes, I realize that just because I / we can't smell it doesn't mean its not harmful... In any event, in the next few weeks I will begin building the bulkheads and sides... my kids are older though, (6,6,9, and 13) and actually anxious to help Dad build an airplane.. (seems none of their freinds Dad's do anything so nutty.. go figure) Good luck deciding, check the MSDS sheets for all; the approved epoxies and decide which will be safest for your own situation, Stew
  2. Thanks John, I had been planning on using the 285 mostly based upon your comments on your website. I really have appreciated all of the work you put into it. The builder websites and the mail lists and forums were the deciding factor in choosing the Cozy. There is no better support that Ihave run across for any other kit. Congratulations on your sucessful flights and I hope that you don't entirely dissappear from sight on the builder forums and lists in the future! Stewart
  3. Slightly off topic, but.. on the subject of Epoxy and an epoxy pump, how adjustable is the pump from Wicks or ACS? I look at the mix ratios on the MGS 335 or 285 epoxies and they do not seem to relate to the pump settings? I have built my jig table, hotbox and fabric case, I'm very close to placing that first order and trying to combine as much as possible to reduce the shipping, but I keep getting snagged reading the pump vs. epoxy ratios. Am I worrying for naught? Thanks in advance Stewart
  4. Well, you all measured out the cloth cabinet just fine, anyone know the dimensions of the epoxy pump? Looking at the catalog it "appears" to be about 20" high, maybe 12" wide and maybe 10" deep? Am I close? About to begin finally and am cleaning out the shop and constructing the table, thought I might just box in a level of shelves and insulate for an epoxy pump but haven't ordered it yet. Any help is appreciated. Stewart
  5. Joe, I am in the same situation as you. About to buy plans and begin, need to take care of a few "housekeeping" items first... finish build out of cellar and shed, relocate an incredible amount of junk from garage to shed, then begin. Maybe a month or three away from start. From all that I have seen and read, the garage should be fine. Unless you have a very nice three car garage with no support columns, I don't imagine you will actually complete and attach the wings inside it. I believe the 7'8" height is the top of the winglets, so it shouldn't be an issue. Of course I have no real clue what I am talking about. Stewart
  6. I remember reading that Phil Johnson did a variation of the Velocity Gull wing door. Here's the old post from the mail list archive: http://kgarden.com/cozy/arch/ch18.htm#msg97/6 and his site: http://www.geocities.com/plmjohnson/ Stewart
  7. I went looking for one too... thought it would be fun to see. What I found was that there is a "Rutan" available for MS Flight Sim it looks to me close to a Long EZ.. you can download the model from www.simviation.com and a Cozy Mark IV for X-Plane.. (a simulator program I have never tried) http://www.x-plane.org/Detailed/2631.shtml Best of luck, Stewart
  8. Saw this awhile back, http://www.rchomebuilts.com/Velocitystatus.htm http://www.rchomebuilts.com/Velocityxl.htm It's a Velocity but pretty nice. Stew
