Westtexas86004
Greetings, I am interested in building a Long EZ. I am wanting to know what the best set of plans would be? Also, I am wanting to modify the design to incorporate a retractable main gear. Any advice would be appreciated. Kent Ashton
For a Long-EZ, download the Open-EZ plans here in the Open-EZ topic. Retracts have been supplied by Infinity but I am not sure he is active. https://infinityaerospace.com/product/featured/landing-gear/ Seen complaints about taking months to get the parts. Yep, folks have put retracts on Longs however, I would personally discourage you from retracts because of (1) added build time, (2) complexity, (3) very small increase in speed (4) sacrifice of fuel capacity, (4) risk of gear collapse. I can think of 3 or 4 builders who started down that path and never finished. A few are flying, of course, but I'd say the unfinished projects outnumber the finished ones. Westtexas86004
it's a shame infinity has ceased supplying retractable gear. Thanks for everyone's replies.
