Ratdog Posted July 9 Posted July 9 I know some Varieze owners have added reinforcement to the existing aluminum angles coming out of the firewall for the engine mount from the original plans . Is there any info in the canard pushers on how to make this modification. I cant find anything . Im at the point in refurbishing this Varieze of putting the engine mount on and the engine and wondering if I should reinforce the mounting studs . Quote
Kent Ashton Posted July 9 Posted July 9 If the Vari is like an EZ, I have read where the bolts for the engine mount extrusions can be located and driven out and the extrusions swapped for something more hefty. Some people have used steel angles, some used 1/4" aluminum angles, some have doubled-up 1/8" aluminum angles. Pic from the EZ plans below. It doesn't sound very hard to do. sixfivelrp Posted July 10 Posted July 10 It seems 1/8 inch 4130 angle is hard to find. My plan is to use square tube and cut it kitty corner on the Bridgeport to make the angle stock. Quote FZ Long eze , # 712 Chapter 14, Chapter 13 and 16 done.
