Quickie Q2

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I have a couple of questions I would like to ask.

1. What is the true VNE of the Quickie Q2 2 place

2. Is it possible to run a stock 13B on the Q2 - My concern here is the additional 25 or so pounds over the O-200.

Any thoughts on this ?

If you have a look at the rest of the Quickie files here you will see there is not a lot of building/flying going on here. I would recommend http://www.quickiebuilders.org/ They have a detailed site and active yahoo group where you will get more informed answers.

I see on the above site somebody is building with a rotary. I think they are very brave, the aircraft was designed for a 65hp volksy motor and even the O-200 is a shoehorn job that has you putting a cake tin on the firewall to make it fit. Even at the weights some people there are flying at I would have the choice of either fuel or a passenger, not both...

Lots of luck

My neighbor runs that website and the newsgroup for the Quickie Builders.

Because I'm two doors up, building a Long-EZ that's going to be rotary powered, we get into this discussion quite often.

I think the 13B would be overkill. I think a single rotor engine would get the job done.

I'll ask him if anyone in the group is actually running or building with a rotary.

BTW ..... he has a Q200 for sale as an almost completed project. He was flying it but had a prop strike so he is planning on selling it without the engine. He ran a VW from Great Plains Aviation (also in my EAA chapter.)

I'll ask him now about the rotary question.

From the Q-List

No flying rotary versions of the quickie as of this date although there seems to be a couple in progress.
