Dave Clifford
We have been busy fabricating the brackets for the hidden hinges for two planes. So far its going good but this is labor intensive and repetitive making enough for two planes. It will sure be worth it though when we get to filling and finishing, not to mention the clean slick looks these add to the planes along with the hidden bell horns for the rudders!! Thanks Jack!! Jerry Schneider
Question: Did we decide the brackets were needed for the rudders, but not for the ailerons if we're using clickbonds? I seem to recall that even with clickbonds, someone said there wasn't enough angle to get a socket on the nut in the rudders. Quote "I run with scissors." Dave Clifford
I thought that the Click Bonds were to attatch the hinge brackets instead of using the rivets, not to take place of the brackets. I could be wrong though. We are using the brackets for both rudder and ailerons. Quote Dave Clifford "The Metal Man" Musketeer Vise grip hands and Micrometer eyes!! Wayne Hicks
Fellas, I used clickbonds to attach the aileron forward hinge segment onto the wing trailing edge. The aft hinge segment is pop-riveted to the aileron as per plans. I have nothing but positive experiences with these clickbonds. See the picture on my website. http://www.maddyhome.com/canardpages/pages/waynehicks/index.html I have not yet installed the clickbonds on the rudders. But I've studied it carefully and the installation is simple and straight-forward. Yeah, them's tight quarters for installing the nuts onto the clickbonds from "inside" the rudder spars, but hey it's no big deal. There's enough room in there to get the job done.
