unick3
For Neil: Could someone who knows this stuff better than I, pls tell me what my options are to replace the MA-4-5 carb that came with my Lyc O-360. I think the picture is like this; If I opt for fuel injection, I can go with either a Bendix injector, or the newer (and quite expensive) Airflow Performance unit. If I stay with a carb, I can rebuild my MA-4-5, or go with an Ellison TB. Is that about it? What other options are there? Aero- Conversions don't (yet?) make a unit for the O-360. Nat Puffer
Dear Neil, The Ellison is lighter and shorter than the carb. I you use a carb, you may have to put a blister on the bottom cowling. The Ellison also does a better job of atomizing the fuel. Regards, Nat
unick3
For Herb: Neil, If you really mean you are looking for something unique and high performance, here is a deal I have wished someone would try. Tracy Crook builds an electronic ignition/electronic fuel injection unit for the rotary 13B engines, Soobs, and other auto conversions and has said he would support someone on the Lycoming. Buy the dual path controller for about $800.00 some new GM corvette coils, & auto plugs, build a cold air induction box with bosses in the four induction tubes to the cylinders for the injectors, mount a throttle body control valve, add dual high pres fuel pumps, and you would be high tech and high performance. Cost under $2000.00 less whatever you could get for your mags and MA4 carb. Lots of work, but you would be a hero at the RACE events.
