Kent Ashton
Kim, you are familiar with the Cozygirrls, yes? They sell a lot of parts. http://www.cozygirrrl.com/aircraftparts.htm Some other parts here http://www.long-ez.com/custom-parts.html Not everyone is equipped to make their own parts but many of them are easy to make if you can find a friend with the simple tools. Some examples: Bellcranks/CS-128. Order the bearing from Spruce, cut out the bellcrank on the bandsaw from 2024 stock, file smooth, rivet with a hammer on a block. Stick Assembly.CZSA ($69)- Cut from raw tube and 4130 sheet, bend on a cheap brake, take to a welder to be TIG'd. I enjoy the fabrication and have acquired the equipment so I made most of the parts for my airplane. The only thing that stumped me were the canard torque tube offsets MKNC-12A L/R ($169 each!). There is a 3/16" hole that needs to be drilled in the inside of surface of a tube that is hard to get right. I could probably make those too with a little better jigging. I would also keep an eye on Barnstormers.com for parts and set up an alert here for Cozy/Long-ez parts http://www.ebay.com/sch/Aviation-Parts-Accessories-/26435/i.html?_dmpt=Motors_Aviation_Parts_Gear&_pcats=6028%2C6000&_rdc=2 You might get lucky. Canopy - Try Airplane plastics...http://www.airplaneplastics.com/ Rudder Pedals - here are the plans.... http://cozybuilders.org/newsletters/news_64.html#IMPROVED_BRAKE_PEDALS Dennis Oelmann built these for a long time, he may no longer be doing this. Aerocad may also supply rudder pedals. Airbrake - the parts in the plans are not sold by anyone that I know of. Most builders are installing their own electric actuator or purchasing a system here...http://www.long-ez.com/custom-parts.html Quote Andrew Anunson I work underground and I play in the sky... no problem
