Jon Matcho Posted September 28, 2015 Share Posted September 28, 2015 I actually used a table saw to cut my foam (before glassing -- not recommended when glassed), but just about anything will work that let's you cut a straight line. You could use a hacksaw blade taped up on one end so you can grab it. Buy yourself a handheld oscillating cutting tool ($80 at Home Depot, less at Harbor Freight, or $300+ for the Fein MultiMaster). You will use this tool all the time for many reasons. I used my Fein tool to cut shapes in the plywood, but also a bandsaw. A Dremel tool comes in handy -- you'll need one -- but the oscillating tool is THE tool you'll want for the first building chapter to make it most productive and pleasant. The right tools can keep your momentum going on a project where as if you don't have what you need, it can frustrate you to the point of quitting. Check Craigslist as there are a lot of people selling stuff all the time. Check the price against new as sometimes you get burnt!
