Something New From Aerocad ?

Al Aldrich just emailed me in reference to my recent plans order and mentioned that they have a new design in the works. All he would say is that it's sort of a cross between a LEZ and an Aerocanard. I'm not sure what that means but it definitely has me wondering.

Like everyone else, I'd just be guessing but maybe it will be a pre fab long you can buy in parts as you progress. Tub, strakes, wings, spar, canopy complete maybe? I think Tony is on the same track.

If its cost effective. it would save a lot of the build time and maybe there wouldn't be so many projects that are never done. The build would keep momentum, excitment and the builder would be more apt to keep going with it. Just my 2 cents.

It's a good question whether lots of prefab parts would mean more canard finishes. What attracted me to them in the beginning was the ability to build a fast airplane from raw materials without lots of tooling. "Quick-build" kits have certainly worked for Vans but the original Aerocanard only seemed marginally successful. It really is pretty EZ to build wings, fuselage, etc. Cowls, engine mounts and a lot of the Cozygirrrl parts are certainly easier to buy than fabricate.

I think momentum and excitment mostly come from making regular progress on the project (and showing your progress in your favorite forum). The less i did, the harder it was to regain my enthusiasm.
