Incentives to finish the build

Recommended Posts

Here's one. I drove to Oshkosh from Howell, MI towing the pop-up. It was a grueling 8 hour drive each way. Thane and Mike LaFleur flew in for a two day visit in Thane's Cozy MKIV from Troy MI, thats 35 miles further than me. It was a 2 hour flight there and a 1.5 hour flight home.

Here is another one. I went up with Thane yesterday to act as safety pilot so he could get in his required instrument approach's in to stay current for his flight to Maine next week. Approach control kept telling us to "slow it up if you are able". They NEVER say that to me in my little Cessna.:o

Thats 1122.5 miles by road. Why thats just a nice 20 hour "Saddle Sore" ride for us Iron Butt members. I've done three of them. But granted, we are a bit of an odd bunch. :D

PS I am building my Cozy so I won't have to do that sort of riding unless I want to.

Odd ;) Two BBG's here.

I gotta get down your way [and poke/prod your project] one of these days...

T: Crashes don't bode well for GA, I hope it wasn't a fatal incident.

I had a feeling you were a member. A concourse is a great bike for it.

Two of my SS rides were only 200 miles shy of a Bun Burner Gold ride, I even had about 5 hours left on the clock, but it just was'nt in the plan. I want to do one next summer just to have it. Also the Border to Border 50 would be nice, Mexico to Canada.

Alas, too many hobbies, not near enough time. I can't imagine how I found time to drink all those years ago.:P

My longuest ride on my ZX-6R was 1,500 miles and it was terrible... not the most confortable ride... but this year trip across the US 5,625 miles (in my Miata over 2 weeks) was a once in a life time affaire :D But gave me a chance to stop in Oshkosh on the way back... this made it all worth while.

Watching White Knight II on the OSH cam in an office while your friends are flying there in a Cozy.

Going to the junk yard with your buddy to yank a heat blower off an old Toyota and some air vents from an old Mercedes.

Switch is back on!

  • 3 weeks later...

Imagine this. Your eating cold cereal for breakfast in Troy MI. You take a 5 minute drive to your hanger, hop in the plane that you built, and after a 4.5 hour flight, which includes a pit stop in Rome NY, your with friends on the town wharf sitting in the Weathervane Restaurant overlooking Belfast Harbor in ME eating the $15.95 "Wicked Twins" two lobster special for lunch caught that morning. How cool is that?

How cool is that????? That absoluteLYYYY ROCKS!!!!!!

Good for you!

Travel is going to be so dang great. That IS my motivator. No more finding a seat on an airline schedule that meets my timeline...parking lightyears from the terminal, and hustling the bags, wading an hour through the ticket line to confirm your e-ticket, and hoping you didnt get bumped...and then, after the typical TSA "shakedown-gramma" experience whilst several anti-profileable looking types breeze though security [i swear I am amazed everytime I go though TSA that that I see this kinda thing.]..then waiting waiting waiting for the flight. Yea, avoiding that. Going to be great.

Keep talking about your escapades on the forum...I'll get my drool rag ready by my keyboard!:)

Now I gotta go. I'm fartind around with my side scoop layups.

Self confessed Wingnut.

Now think about it...wouldn't you rather LIVE your life, rather than watch someone else's, on Reality T.V.?

Get up off that couch!!! =)

Progress; Fuselage on all three, with outside and inside nearly complete. 8 inch extended nose. FHC done. Canard finished. ERacer wings done with blended winglets. IO540 starting rebuild. Mounting Spar. Starting strake ribs.
