Anyway, its a twin turbo with lots of computer contol, and an inline 6 cylinder. Its a long engine for our birds. I doubt that it's practical for a Cozy Mk IV, but folks have put in V-8's and IO-540's, so I figured that if folks were willing to go to that much trouble, there is probably someone out there who would give up his rear seats to find a way to stuff this engine in there. Jack Morrison - are you interested? Here's a real challenge for you! ;-) I'm just day-dreaming. My engine decision is still a few years away. gontek Posted October 1, 2008 Share Posted October 1, 2008 I googled it, and read in a few places that the crakcase is aluminum, and the automobile gross weight is reduced ~20kg with the diesel option. So, I have no answer, but maybe there is something to hope for. Jane's AWA 2009 should be out now, if not soon, I remember seeing BMW in the 2008-09, but I think they were motorcycle engines. I'm keeping my Lyc only going NA to improve fuel burn. Amazing there is very little damage to the engine under the circustances. Yes, BMW engines are pricey - had to buy one a couple of years ago - but they are smooth engines and last long. I've gone over 200k miles twice. Block is new-technology compacted graphite iron (CGI) that leads to a low weight of 202 kg dry (not sure which engine that weight is for.)
