What does the animal weigh?..and what does it feed upon?...diesel- I hope!!!:)

Self confessed Wingnut.

Now think about it...wouldn't you rather LIVE your life, rather than watch someone else's, on Reality T.V.?

Get up off that couch!!! =)

Progress; Fuselage on all three, with outside and inside nearly complete. 8 inch extended nose. FHC done. Canard finished. ERacer wings done with blended winglets. IO540 starting rebuild. Mounting Spar. Starting strake ribs.

It appears these new BMW engines max out at 1750 rpm, so wouldn't need a PSRU, maybe a PSIU (increase).

Anyway, its a twin turbo with lots of computer contol, and an inline 6 cylinder. Its a long engine for our birds.

1750 is max torque - I don't know the rpm for max horsepower. I doubt that it's practical for a Cozy Mk IV, but folks have put in V-8's and IO-540's, so I figured that if folks were willing to go to that much trouble, there is probably someone out there who would give up his rear seats to find a way to stuff this engine in there.

Jack Morrison - are you interested? Here's a real challenge for you! ;-)

I'm just day-dreaming. My engine decision is still a few years away. :)

Right wing done - working on right winglet.

I googled it, and read in a few places that the crakcase is aluminum, and the automobile gross weight is reduced ~20kg with the diesel option. So, I have no answer, but maybe there is something to hope for.

Jane's AWA 2009 should be out now, if not soon, I remember seeing BMW in the 2008-09, but I think they were motorcycle engines. I would be suprised not so see this in there with specs as an aircraft powerplant candidate. I'll check with the library.

I thought you might like this one. You ever price a complete German auto engine, way out of line. I'm keeping my Lyc only going NA to improve fuel burn. Amazing there is very little damage to the engine under the circustances. My new E Racer is coming along great, should have it in the air next spring.

HP peak of 320-ish should come right around 5000-5500rpm range for N54. And more HP - around 390 if needed - on tap with piggy-back.

Then theres the Ford V6 and V8 Diesels. 150 and 200KW respectively. Block is new-technology compacted graphite iron (CGI) that leads to a low weight of 202 kg dry (not sure which engine that weight is for.)

The engines are made in the UK, and rumoured to be made soon in the US, so availability and pricing might be better than from DM.

p.s howdy all. Yes, still alive.
