E-Racer Strake Materials

King Racer

Recommended Posts

My E-Racer construction manual (Chapter 12) calls for 5 mm red PVC foam for top and bottom surface of the strakes and 0.25" Klegecell or PVC foam for the baffles. Would 0.25" divinycell (3 lbs/cuft ? or 6 lbs/cuft ? or 15.6 lbs/cuft ? - density is not specified in plans) be the correct material/density to use for the E-Racer strakes?

Thanks

I believe the stuff you want is the H45 3lb

http://www.airchttp://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cmpages/divinycellfoam.php

It comes in the right sizes. The 3lb density is more flexible than the heavier stuff and will conform to the curves better when you bend it.

Sorry, Here is the correct link

http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cmpages/divinycellfoam.php

also

My copy of cozy mk3 plans shows H45 PVC .35 in. thick for these parts.

My e-copy of cozy Mk4 plans shows H45 PVC 3/8" thick

I believe the 5mm (.196 in.) PVC has been discontinued except in the 18# weight,

I've the Divinicel "H" grade tech manual, no mention of colors, nada.

Like Mr. Schubert said, the Cozy uses 3/8" H-45 for the strake skins and inner bulkheads.

Try www.fiberglasssupply.com ? They cater to the hydraulic crowd (surf boards), but their website lists several thicknesses and grades of Divinicel. No connection, but I have ordered other stuff from them in the past.
