The GU canard was also standard design on the first Long-EZs, but was replaced with the Roncz canard after it was discovered that the GU+Long-EZ combination would pitch down in rain. The Roncz canard is now recommended for Long-EZs, and is standard with all Cozy and AeroCanard models (not sure about any other designer/manufacturers). Some wonder whether the Roncz canard could improve flight of the VariEze, but per RAF, they recommended against as the GU canard requires only a trim change in rain with the VariEze. Installing a Roncz canard on a VariEze is an unknown, AFAIK.
