Jon Matcho Posted November 5, 2005 Share Posted November 5, 2005 I sent in my order to the Rutan Aircraft Factory a couple of weeks ago, holding my breath for whether I'd receive a "Sorry, we're closed" response, or the actual plans. I received the plans in the mail yesterday, with instructions relevant for new construction. Here's a quote from the plan guide: We believe this installation is an improvement over the original [Long-EZ] plans (large rudders) from a practical, operational sense as well as simply making the airplane look better.I've heard rumors that the RAF is shutting its doors, so if you're thinking of including these in your plane, you best spend the couple of dollars now. RSBWingHome Posted September 5, 2007 Share Posted September 5, 2007 I have the TERF CD and that means I have the drawing for the control horn. Now for the problem..... There is nothing on the drawing to use for scale. The only dimentions are for the holes and I do not want to use them as a reference. I need to know the length of the horn and maybe a width so I can be sure to have the correct scale. Any and all help would be great. The deflection is a result of the accurate placement of the belhorn ...... so the answer is no, you don't lose anything. Joe Polenek The hidden belhorn plans and large rudder plans were designed by rutan aircraft for the Long-EZ. I believe the Cozy is already using the large rudders. I am not aware of any reduced rudder authority as a result of installing the hidden belhorn according to plans. However, this may not be worth your while (or worries).
