URL: http://www.rmtaviation.com It is a EU ultralight canard / USA SportPlane. Stall speed less than 65, max cruise 270 km/h with Rotax 914 turbo. Pretty awesome for being light aircraft. Weights only 259 kg. - Gyroflug Speed Canard: Try googling Speed Canard for some info. The kit is discontinued as far as I know, but looks pretty interesting. They're very comfortable, but slow and not as maneuverable, according to those that have flown them. They're WAY overpriced, from the asking price of the one in the US that was for sale last year. Hi John, as stated at their site, the Bateleur was test-flown by the German "Flieger Magazin" and the results published in their January 2002 issue. The main points of the article, positive + Light, strong construction + STOL, capable of operating out of unimpoved strips + Difficult to stall canard configuration + Reliabe (but expensive) Rotax 912/914 power and negative - Delta Dart derivative, the prototype of which crashed killing the designer - Very expensive at EUR 68.000 ex VAT at 2002 prices (would be something like USD 100.000). I would very much prefer a RangeR by DAC, EUR 40.000, reliable diesel power, cheap fuel. I'm still looking, but will probably end up with an Aerocanard, powered by a Mercedes Benz 3 liters V6 turbodiesel. triple7driver Posted July 13, 2008 Share Posted July 13, 2008 I'm not sure if this is big news or not but it looks like the Bateleur will be coming to America soon. According to their U.S. site www.rmtaviation.com they will be selling complete kits to include the Rotax 912 ULS engine and also a fixed gear fixed prop LSA version. They seem to infer that they intend to also sell an all up ready to fly part 23 airframe as well. Looks like they are planning to open shop at a small airfield in Northern California and if they can get their demo aircraft in time from South Africa be on display at the Reno Air Races. No price info that I could see. Having been a huge fan of this airframe and engine combo for some time and am glad to see that it appears to be moving forward. Maybe Todd can make you one. I am having him make an oddball shape in acrylic for me. But maybe its just to pointy for Todd to make. It does look a little lawn dartish ....but hey its unique!!!
