Quickie 1 plans on ebay

...plans set for the construction of a "QUICKIE 1" AIRCRAFT that I built in 1978-79...

This seems to be the act of a very naughty person  I've always put the Quickie in the same basket as the Pou D'Ciel (as in ideal for basket cases) but surely somebody out there (besides this guy) is entitled to a fling when copies of the plans are sold.

What would you do if you built this?

Yeah, I'm not sure whether this is legal or not.

:scared: Well, as it turns out, the Quickie was the first plane built by one of the administrators here (not me): http://www.cozybuilders.org/Q2.html

I never had a desire to build one, as they are just a bit too odd for me, but to each their own. Perhaps they have some crazy flying characteristics that I'm not aware of. I'm also sure it would be a challenge getting by the "I'm not getting in that thing" statements.

Here's the modern version: http://www.slipstream.bz/dragonfly.htm

Just stumbled on this old thread and noticed some broken links. The Dragonfly kit was sold by Slipstream Industries to Dart Industries a while back.

Quickie builder information is available at www.quickbuilders.org

Finally, selling original plans is not at all illegal.

Not sure what a 'fling' is, but the seller is the only one entitled to any money when selling original plans (or any other items he may care to put on eBay). Quickie plans, old books, and Beanie Baby toys -- same thing. :)

Just so everyone knows. I bought a set of plans from that guy on eBay and they were horrible quality! The images were illegible, and the text was splotchy at best.

Better version are available through peolpe in the quickiebuilders group:

http://www.quickiebuilders.org

Also I got a little tired of seeing all of the people on eBay selling crappy version of the plans, so I created my own website as a repository for information to help builders of the quickie designs. It's a work in progress but you can see the results here:

http://www.quickheads.com

I posted versions of the Q-2 and Q-200 designs with searchable text:

http://www.quickheads.com/Q2-Plans/Q-2-Q-200-Plans/

I also posted all 25 of the original Quickie Aircraft Corp's newsletters with searchable text:

http://www.quickheads.com/Newsletters/QAC-Newsletters/

This is all available now for free, and hopefully will make it easier to research information while attempting to build one of these great (but often misunderstood) Rutan designs.

You can also see pictures of the basket case I have in my garage here:

http://www.quickheads.com/Pictures/

I hope some of you will get some use out of these resources!

Cheers everyone,

McFly

Great website Mcfly.

I'm a big fan of the Quickie and all things Rutan.

I love my Quickie 1, I have only had it for 12 months and now I live in china I don't get to fly it that often.

For a pilot on a budget I don't think you will find many aircraft so cheap to own, run and with this performance.

The only time my Quickie will come on the market is after I'm gone..!!!

Yes, McFly, great source of info. there. Did you type all that text from plans yourself?

How does one go about building a Quickie type from plans these days, if at all possible?

I've noticed that too. Q1 huh? Just you and the plane in there I presume, maybe room for a lunch bag?
