Aircraft Spruce MkIV Chapter Kits Applicability to original Cozy?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, got an honest question for the community. I've finally got some time (and money) to play with and intend to start making some progress on my Cozy. I bought a partially completed Cozy (3 place) fuselage from an A&P down in West Palm. The workmanship so far is excellent (canoe on wheels stage) and everything is per plans.

My question is I'm ready to do some more chapters and am looking to buy materials from Aircraft Spruce. They've broken down the materials by chapter for the MkIV but how applicable are these materials to the original cozy design? I want to make the materials purchases as simple as possible but don't want to buy items that aren't needed or applicable.

Has anyone else faced this same dilemna in the past? Anybody with experience care to comment?

Thanks,

CJ

have you called them, i would imagine they can fill by cozy3 or cozy4 plan sets as the 3's didn't stop being built when the 4 came out

enjoy the build, come around or accros the lake for plane day

enjoy the build

dust

maker wood dust and shavings - foam and fiberglass dust and one day a cozy will pop out, enjoying the build

Thanks for the reply (and the invite!). I am embarrassed to say that I may have answered my own question. I had a little more time on my hands after I posted and went back to Aircraft Spruce's website and typed "Cozy" into the search engine; numerous hits came back and most led to the cozy MkIV kit page. If you click on the chapter kits another page comes up with a breakdown of what's included in the chapter kit.

I think my best bet is to cross-compare what's on the chapter breakdown on the website and add/delete items by comparing what's there to what's called out for by chapter in the plans. The upside to this is that if I elect to buy pre-cut foam cores for my airfoils/strakes then I can delete the extra foam from the chapter kit. From what I can see the chapter kits aren't totally complete though, they only contain the special items needed for the chapter, BID glass, epoxy etc. are extra. Looks like I'll be spending more time with the plans and on the phone with Aircraft Spruce.

Thanks,

Thanks Dust. I think I might try my hand at a core by doing the canard core and seeing how it turns out. I've already got a power inverter, just need to make a frame to tension a wire...
