Window installation

dust

OK, so we bought todds canopies and windows. They are oversized to the plan windows, cool i like the increased area, but my question is

should the line between the canopy cut mark and the windows match or does it look good with straight windows?

The aft edge of the forward window and the forward edge of the aft window should be parallel to the cut line. I.e., SLANTED. If you're asking if it's possible to cut the window holes so that the forward and aft edges are truly veritcal...yeah, I guess you can do that. But you'd have to downsize the windows and you'd lose lots of valuable window area.

Yes, almost blew it by reducing the bottom edge to parrelel to the bottom flange, until i pulled a magazine and saw that area gets filled in later.

I plan on making the forward edge parrelel to the front of the turtledeck

the middle edges parrelel from the cut line 2 inches from the cut each side and the rearward edge parrelel to the back of the turtledeck

The bottom line and the top line will be continious

Does this make it clear?? it appears that the only areas that are important is the bottom line and the fron tedge(bulkhead interference

Enjoying the build

Cut the windows in tonight, made a templet for a router(small laminate trimmer) with a bushing, they look laser cut, bullet straight, smooth corners, lines parrel to the future cut of the canopy.

It was fun cutting out large sections of a carefully made part and throwing them out, he he he

Make it right and later you get to cut it off and throw it out.

Happy, will post pictures of the set up when we do turtle # 2

Enjoy the build

Here's a picture of canopy #1. Dust used his $46,000, custom built, lazer guided, diamond tooled, CNC controlled router/milling machine, that he built just for this purpose. We don't call him the "Jig Man" for nothing!! Note the slightly enlarged window openings we were able to get using Todds canopies.

OK so the window holes are cut and the windows are cut oversize, but we have not taped them yet, any improvements over the plans method?
